I Sell More Of These Than Anything Else I Make. Great Project for Beginning Woodworkers.

This is by far my most popular item that I sell from my shop. It is simple to build and makes a very unique gift. I make these acoustic speakers from scrap wood, pallet wood, premium 1 x 6 pine, or anything else that is roughly 3/4″ thick. I can provide dimensions if anyone is interested, just add a request in the comments.

As always, please feel free to ask questions or subscribe. I appreciate all of them as I grow.

I sell these speakers on Etsy and my Website:

Use the circle cutouts for knobs or wheels for kids toys etc..

  2. Derick C on March 14, 2023 at 7:15 am

I would cut the circles in half and make small ninja stars out of them. Uh. Use a long rod and glue multiple together to make a bigger rod?… uh put on a soft bottom ot them and make furniture sliders…. given time I can think of so many uses for them. Some things I would just have to do and show…. oh oh. You can make doll house tables out of them…

Your description of your product should include a demonstration. I am trying to figure out in my mind what it would look like.

  4. Kim Havey on March 14, 2023 at 7:19 am

Make a table top with the circles and resin. That would be awesome!!

  5. john Butler on March 14, 2023 at 7:20 am

    Use them for wheels

  6. Sheldon Dillon on March 14, 2023 at 7:21 am

    That’s such a simple idea , it’s " diabolical"

  7. S McCaskill on March 14, 2023 at 7:22 am

Seriously we don’t need to hear your phone conversations.

    Turn them into wheels

  10. Hi Stacey on March 14, 2023 at 7:28 am

I have a hard time calling them scraps. 😅

  11. Scott Stewart on March 14, 2023 at 7:28 am

those circle pieces could be a center knocker piece for wooden wind chimes.

  12. Justin Helsley on March 14, 2023 at 7:28 am

My boys always like to come in my shop to build stuff, so an easy project is a car or truck they can paint up. So i save those little cicles for tires!

  13. Darlin Brady-Caro on March 14, 2023 at 7:29 am

I use the circles for drawer knobs.

  14. James Boucher on March 14, 2023 at 7:32 am

    How well does it amplify?

  15. S E on March 14, 2023 at 7:33 am

I would use them for wheels to make toy trains. Use can use scrapes for the body

  16. Druforithe on March 14, 2023 at 7:35 am

Glue the discs in a stack to turn them into lathing blanks?

  17. CuriousCat on March 14, 2023 at 7:35 am

I don’t get it. It’s a little wooden stand for the cell phone. What is the hole for? Why do you call it a speaker?

  18. ChildPsy on March 14, 2023 at 7:35 am

The wheel cutouts can also be used to make luthier clamps for glueing tops and bottoms onto the sides of stringed instruments builds

  19. Tim Kirkpatrick on March 14, 2023 at 7:35 am

rolling duck and car wheels for toys

  21. Gerd Berg on March 14, 2023 at 7:37 am

You did not even put a phone in it so we could hear what it does. WTF…………..

In the first couple of seconds I thought this might be Paul Braunstein. 🙂

  23. Rick JG on March 14, 2023 at 7:38 am

So when making and selling your products on Etsy? How much inventory do you have for each item and what is this based on? Thanks!

  24. Jim Hendrickson on March 14, 2023 at 7:40 am

I suppose you could make the circles into tinker toys for young kids.

  25. baudgaud on March 14, 2023 at 7:41 am

George Stevenson already mentioned "drum sanders" and I think that is a solution to another issue mentioned in this video itself: Lots of leftover round cutouts, hard to sand the inside of the round cutouts… just knock another 1/8" (or however thick your sandpaper is) off the outside of a couple of circles, bind them together with glue and/or dowels, glue some sandpaper around the outside, and you solved both problems at once.

You could also round off and smooth out those leftover circles and bind them together to make a bar for paper towels or toilet paper (depending on the OD of the circle and the ID of the paper towel roll). Or to make any kind of roller you need around the shop or house.

You can also bind 2 or 3 of those together and hard-mount them to anything with a backing fence and use them for bending metal scrollwork (you might not need more than 1 depending on how thick or tall your metal piece is).

Or cut them in half so they have a flat bottom and use the round tops wherever you want to make some kind of scale or balancing decoration. Or turn that upside down and mount the flat part to anything you want to make into a rocking/seesaw motion.

Glue the circles into a long pole and lathe them into something

  27. Robert Taylor on March 14, 2023 at 7:46 am

    Hi
    Us treaded bar
Glue up and make walking sticks
    Shape on lathe
    Add handle
    Job done

  28. Tom Bola on March 14, 2023 at 7:48 am

Make spindle sanding tubes for a drill press with the remaining circles

  29. Cotton Top on March 14, 2023 at 7:49 am

I use those circular knock outs as plugs to keep snakes from crawling through the little semicircle gap of metal corrugated roof on chicken coops

  30. Robert Busek on March 14, 2023 at 7:49 am

I’ve seen acoustic speakers like this in books and online, but this design seems a lot more practical since you don’t have to measure the phone so the slot is big enough. Would a Fornster (sp?) work as well as a hole saw? New subscriber here!

  31. BigEasy2187 on March 14, 2023 at 7:49 am

if you’re not going to speak up then please turn the music off

  32. Steve Nell on March 14, 2023 at 7:50 am

    they shit

    How well does it amplify?

  34. Dennis Yanan on March 14, 2023 at 7:51 am

my question is how do you get the circle to eject so easily? I use a hole saw to cut circles out for making lids of honey jars, and it takes longer to get the disc out of the hole saw than it does to cut the circle in the first place.

  35. jim graham on March 14, 2023 at 7:51 am

I noticed a comment that suggested toy car wheels for your circle cut outs. You could also make them into knobs for jig making, sell them by the dozen pack. Just add the 1/4-20 bolt.

  36. stevecec14 on March 14, 2023 at 7:51 am

Not that you would need a million of them, but I would use the circles as a paint finishing point with a screw through the middle. so you could paint both sides by setting on the points

  37. Hoos Foos on March 14, 2023 at 7:52 am

Would it be worthwhile to put another 15* cut on the side as well as the bottom? If the cut is made on the "hole side", you could use it in the both horizontal position and the vertical position. It may have to have less than a 15* since it may be top heavy in the vertical position. Just a thought. Nice job!

  38. Seth Cable on March 14, 2023 at 7:52 am

    The wee circles? Shoot em

  39. Jim Hobson on March 14, 2023 at 7:53 am

The little circles can be used for violin building clamps or acoustic guitar building clamps. Add threaded rod, plastic hose and 2 wing nuts.

  40. maxwel house on March 14, 2023 at 7:56 am

you can cut the ciclres in half, and use them as engraved key chains

  41. shopnwoods on March 14, 2023 at 7:58 am

    Cool little project

  42. IT Works Websites on March 14, 2023 at 7:58 am

Make knobs with the circles…there are tons of jigs for quickly making knobs out of those.

  43. Gerd Berg on March 14, 2023 at 8:00 am

    And it not a speaker , it is a resonator , call a spade a spade would’ya

  44. Meyers homestead on March 14, 2023 at 8:00 am

Could make legs for things with the rounds

  45. Chip Bowlin on March 14, 2023 at 8:07 am

    I’d like measurements

  46. Bryan O'Connor on March 14, 2023 at 8:07 am

These are pretty cool, I usedjust to make knick nack shelfs and hanging wall-art and stuff like that years ago from wood scraps I got out of the dumpster from a local furniture maker who would give me all the scrap wood I wanted just so they didn’t have to pay for it to go to the landfill. I built my niece a Barbie doll house and my nephew a G.I. Joe Base all out of scrap wood. I have thought about getting back into it and doing it again.

  47. Brennan Schuler on March 14, 2023 at 8:07 am

Build the old shop class semi. Already got the wheels

  48. It’s me Frank! on March 14, 2023 at 8:08 am

Ironman armour, that’s what you build with scraps!

  49. Michael Fairchild on March 14, 2023 at 8:08 am

For circle parts, glue them together, stick a sand paper to them and attach to a drill press.

  50. Jenny on March 14, 2023 at 8:10 am

    what is the hole for?
