Block Plane [Restoration]

This is a Millers Falls No. 16 block plane. Cleaned up very well and could still use some more material removal on the sole. Sharpened to 8000 grit.

Shit Chisels was the name of my garage band in high school.
shit chisels.
Evapo rust! First signed apperance
What do you use to soak the parts in to clean them up initially?
Dude you missed your calling, you would have made a great "Thing" for the Adams Family!!! So much expression with your hands… Great videos, love them…
Glad to see someone else with a collection of "shit chisels". If ya gotta mortise some shit or dovetail some shit, you’ll never go wrong if you have a shit chisel collection.
I was so excited finding your Chanel because I inherited a lot of my father’s and grandfather’s tools. I have one just like this. I just wish you would slow down a bit because for me I had to rewind so many times to figure out how to put this together again. I am stuck with the long lever and how to put it together. Next I want to figure out how to run the drill press. Not sure but the one you used in this video looks like mine. Thank you.
отлично
If you need a shit chisel, then your just not wiping properly.
So, what happens to these tools after? Are they customer service jobs, hobby, resale, etc?
every time i see one of these tools i’m, like "ugh!" and then i see the end of the video and i’m, like "ahh!"
I hate doing these there so simple qnd just to easy to do
Nice video, but where is plane collector ? he vanished completly,
So I found one of these things in my grandfathers closet today and had no idea what it was. After a quick google search and this video, I now know what they used to look like and their function. Thanks for the help!
"SHIT CHISELS"
1.05 toe jam?
Nice slurry & Miller Falls plane
What did you use as the platen for your belt sander?
OK !
To flatten the bottom of your hand plane you should stick a piece of wet-dry 400 2 a piece of quarter inch plate glass. You should have the lap until you get a consistent scratch pattern then lap again with a 600 grit wet dry sandpaper. Then you would be sure you’d have a flat bottom on your pan plane. Great job thanks for the video.
What is whe fluid you soak your plane in ?
Great video.
What is the liquid that you use to remove rust?
"Убивать" каретку Veritas на ленточном станке – это верх цинизма. Как и сам рубанок, который нормально восстановить теперь будет гораздо тяжелее. Одно радует – это одно из первых его видео.
Awesome video mate, just one thing I was taught was never put a plane, blade down on any surface as it’s not good for the blade, always lie it on it’s side
I love your channel, please keep making videos, they help me get through really bad anxiety attacks. I appreciate this.
Veritas mkII on the sander is a f…ing great idea to quick restore the blade! Love this video!
nice work. your video is easy to understand and helpful, and engaging w/out a bunch of asinine "branding" or ego. thanks for taking the time to share the process.
What are those sharpening stones/plates???
Vinegar?
all right now go for it ya.
No trip to the sandblaster? We are gravely disappointed!
Can u let us know went u r going to sell some thk
lmao I got a gillette ad right after you shaved your arm hair with the iron
Still has chipped paint
I like that you left the painted finish like it was. Sometimes, keeping the patina is a good thing.
You have some DMT…Lucky you!!!
No paint?
No such thing as a shit chisel, just ones you keep for non chisel related activities
hello there ..nice rstroe..on 1:27 how do you name while that was you conected there to clean the metal?
Add to the video description what sharpening plates you used!
What was in the bucket that took the rust off?
Awesome video! I’m restoring a plane at present and I’d never thought to start the new edge on the iron using the belt sander. What is the plate you put between the belt and platen? Is it just a steel plate or something more specialized?
5:38… I bet, a bikini line is out of question.
After all that, it should be so sharp, that the shadow should be able to take off a table leg.
Very nice work I enjoyed it
Wish I knew where you got that honing jig!
No paint job? Feels like the video is incomplete.
I have a 1913 Stanley version of that plane with a very strange locking mechanism
