SEARS DUNLAP BLOCK PLANE WITH CHESTER SPIER
SEARS DUNLAP BLOCK PLANE WITH CHESTER SPIER
A GIFT OF A SMALL BLOCK PLANE PUT OUT BY SEARS ROEBUCK IN 1951. VINTAGE AND IN MINT CONDITION THIS PLANE CAME WITH ITS ORIGINAL BOX AND PAMPHLET ABOUT THE CARE AND FEEDING OF PLANES. NEVER USED THE BLADE IS STILL NOT HONED. ANTIQUE TOOL COLLECTORS MIGHT LOVE THIS.
Ouch….I’m glad that blade wasn’t sharp when you kept sliding your finger across it. I bought a small Dunlap years ago similar to yours and found it useful although cheaply made. Mine was made in Germany and needed a lot of tuning to make it work well. Thanks for bringing this piece of history back to life again.
Very Nice Gift.. Just picked one up myself at auction
I noticed there is a BHL on the blade, that indicates it was made by Sargent (DD is Stanley, BB is Millers Falls)
