Powermatic 6 inch Woodworking Jointer Model 54HH, Review, Unboxing, First Use
I get rid of my old straight blade Grizzly jointer and replace it with a new Powermatic 6 inch woodworking jointer, model 54HH. I unbox the new jointer, set it up, and test it out. I review the new Powermatic jointer and compare it to the old one.

Own one myself. Love it.
I watched this video because I just ordered the same jointer, and wanted to see the unboxing and initial impressions. The fence on this jointer is longer than the entire bed of my old Craftsman, so it should be a huge upgrade!
This video made me nostalgic for my middle school woodshop class. Even though I admit to chuckling every time you said “heliarcal”, I found it endearing. Thank you for sharing!
You should look into getting a wireless remote mic for your camera so we don’t have to blast our speakers or headsets to be able to hear you. Once the speakers are blasting so we can hear you, you changed scenes and suddenly we get blasted by the new volume without notice.
I took a shot every time he mispronounced "helical", and now I’m drunk!
Pronouced "he lick ul" very nice jointer, just ordered one today.
Awesome thanks. Me buy one now. Can you sell my wife on me needing this lol
I have an older model with the blades and it’s a pain to calibrate the blades, can I replace the cutter head with one like yours?
"Healy-arcal"??? What??
Is anything made in America?
"The gold standard." Watching woodworking on television a good portion of my life, Powermatic was always the brand that I aspired to own one day. Powermatic is to woodworking tools, what Colt is to 1911’s. It’s an old, trusted name, renowned for high quality.
I have the very same jointer , and your outfeed bed needs to be aligned with the fence
Hooked it up to the saw dust vaccum and still blows a bunch of saw dust.
Do you still like your planer? Any regrets for not going bigger?
Are the cutter blades angled for a shear cut? It is hard to tell on the video.
Appreciate the review. However, please note it’s a helical cutter. You keep calling it heliarchical, which was derived from the old work for TIG welding – help-arc. Helical comes from the work helix. Take it from an exam-TIG welder.
New tools are so fun!
