Intarsia Cockatoo
My cousin asked me to make a colorful parrot! He chose this cockatoo pattern by Kathy Wise. In this video I make this bird. I used Osage orange, yellow heart, aspen, ebony, holly, aromatic cedar, monkey pod, pine (stained blue), and walnut. I really enjoyed making this cockatoo with all different colors. Thanks for hanging out with me while I worked in the shop!

beautiful job Cy, I made a Kathy Wise Kookaburra and won Grand Champion with it
Oh Wowzer!! I see that Steve Good Promoted your video….WHOOT WHOOT!!
Very nice job.
I would like to ask you how you do with the writing (at the 15th minute). Do you burn with a pyrography or transfer letters? Thank you for your reply
QUESTION: What do you use to wipe off the spray on glue ( spray adhesive ) for patterns stuck to wood for scroll sawing and intarsia?
That is truly remarkable
Can you advise me about getting diagrams
Thank you
Very nice work! Congratulations!
Hi cy
Good job Bird
You good job video
You thanks video
👍👍👍👍👍🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅
espectacular trabajo
Do you have trouble with that brand of blades breaking extremely fast. I bought some about a year ago and I am going through them faster than the other brands.
Очень красиво! 👍
Absolutely beautiful craftsmanship. If you need deep penetrating stain try TransTint dye stains. They can be mixed with water or alcohol ( I use 90% rubbing alcohol) or 50/50 H2O and alcohol. Again stunning project, loved the video.
Beautiful work, Cy. Love the parrot. I have Judy’s feathered friends pattern to do some of these days and I’ll definitely be using some stain now I’ve seen how well it worked for you. Thanks as always for the video. 👍🏻
You have a whole vibe to you that I really enjoy! Great work and wish nothing but the best for you!
This is awesome. I love it. Thanks for sharing!
Awesome video, new subscriber
Another great project! You always make it look so easy! Love your new dust helmet. I’ve been looking at getting something like that also but the price tag has been stalling me. Just want to make sure I’ll be in the shop wearing it frequently if I commit to that expense.
you best in the world good job🇩🇿
It’s absolutely beautiful! But… it is not a sulphur crested cockatoo. They are white with a lovely yellow (sulphur) crest. I am listening to them right now squawking away in New South Wales, Australia. 😊😊
Love the colors, you made a new type of bird! Cockatoo Macaw…I love it!!!! Awesome imagination!
Gorgeous! Just really really good! Also says we are created in his image and no feathers lol love your channel!
Very Nice, Love watching you create stuff. I am working on something special but not sure when I will get it done, as my wife of 49yrs has to go into the hospital for a major operation. Oh on your ear protection, I would suggest you flip it around from the back, so the extra is not hanging down in the front, as it might get caught in something. Probably nothing would happen but never can tell. God Bless.
Fabulous, that looked really difficult, Thanks Cy xx
awesome job i love it!!
Muito bom. PARABÉNS
This is an incredible piece. Beautiful work Cy
very good
What size is the magnifying glass you use.
Great job MSIC. You hit it out of the park. P,S. I hear that Darth Vadir is upset with you…something about equipment infringement.
Good job amazing
Oh, almost forgot, that new helmet is great. Ask that “hubby” of yours to please increase the speed and/or adjust the fins on that downdraft table. It will help you immensely!
Just fantastic
Very good job you are a great artist
I LOVED This…wow, simply awesomesauce SONflower!! Cy, you outdid yourself….lol….you always put up great work, doesn’t surprise me at all. Neat tool for the eye 🙂 Great idea about staining the pine to get the color you wanted. ps…I am loving my new table saw…I just ordered 3 woods to play online and it should arrive on Thursday. I usually just use pine….so this will be fun for me to try some pretty exotics. YEA….Anyway, I always love watching your creations. I am happy for you Sister Friend 🙂
Love and Hugs
Shell 🙂
Wow!! Cy the contouring of each of the feathers adds so much to the project. Great job.
You really have mastered Intarsia Cy! Each of your projects just gets better and better. This parrot is beautiful!!! A person sure has to have patience to do Intarsia and you seem very blessed that way.
Wonderful work!!
Possibly your best project yet! Great choice of wood colors and the blue was a perfect shade for the wood you chose. Any darker blue and it would not have blended in. (IMO) Love the new mask. Looks like it may be warming up more in your area.
The time, the patience, the detail, the fun, the inspiration you share that gives others hope in themselves, that they can do anything they set their minds to do…is oh so natural you Cy!
What a beautiful God given talent you have in many ways. Its what makes you shine.
Your intarsia projects and completions, as well as other type projects you do and Hubby too.. are completely awesome.
You inspire us all. You are a World Class Champion!
God Bless you.

You did a really nice job on that challenging bird. Way to go. I envy you that cool respirator shield you got. It’s way too pricey for me but a gal can dream. 🙂 Here’s a tip: Wipe a light coat of Armor All upholstery cleaner on the lens of your shield to keep sawdust from sticking to it.
Great work. I have started a channel to show some of my work.
WOWOW! Cy, this is gorgeous! I don’t know if you have tried this, but I have seen in woodworking videos, where you can put small amount of course salt in between glued pieces preventing them from shifting. I have nor tried this, but thought I would throw it our there!!
I love the piece but then i have a love of the birds too…. way to many here but love them all…. but if i may say something not to be critical but just a tidbit of knowledge if i may… cockatoos are all white except the black cockatoos which are black…And the Galah or ROsy Breasted cockatoo….. the Sulphur is which with exception of his crest which is a Sulphur yellow is all white… Also they are from Australia too…. your combining a McCaw colors which are vivid and stunning in life… but they are from central and South America to a bird in nature is white… try maybe using different woods that are different shades of white… I absolutely love the detail you are doing… it makes him just pop…. i hope she loved the piece as much as we did… sorry i was a party p%^per… i just figure you didnt know…. McCaws are a great deal bigger…more than double the Cockatoo
beautiful . ciao Cy’s Corner
Great job as always. Thanks for sharing!
Cy, great job and It looks beautiful.
Cy, Every one of your intarsia projects is wonderfully done! I mean that!
This parrot is “absolutely amazing”. Your patience, dedication to perfection and choices of wood for your project is fabulous!
Nice piece … love the colors you chose!!
Beautiful. Great Tutorial. Your verbal and visual instructions are very helpful. Thank You for taking the time to make this video.
Hi there, I’m hooked on Intarsia. Not go at it but I’m trying. Need lots of practice on the scrollsaw. Your work is outstanding and amazing. Wish I had you as a neighbor!! Lol
It’s beautiful Cy, I love it!
