Interscalene block : the out-of plane-technique
Interscalene block : the out-of plane-technique
the success rate US-guided scalene block is almost 100%.
just placing LA in inter-scalene space will result in a successful block.
because the course of the trunks the probe need to be tilted on 2 planes to get a good image, so alignment of the needle using in-plane is usually time consuming (and pt discomfort)
in contrast the out of plane is extremely easy there for the block can be performed in few seconds
please watch my videos about upper trunk variation
and how to keep the pt awake during surgery https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cq0oKbl5JCs
Thanks for this vidio…
