Is a cheap $25 jigsaw any good? Actually, yeah!

Is a cheap $25 jigsaw any good? Actually, yeah!

About a year ago bought a really cheap spare jigsaw to have a backup/learning tool for friends. Picked a random Black & Decker one that had good reviews. How bad can it be?

Wasn’t impressed with it initially, shelved the video, forgot all about it & haven’t touched the jigsaw since. Now my trusty ole 6 amp Ridgid finally broke after 4 years of hard duty (it was already 10+ years old by then) & out of necessity broke out the El Cheapo. Surprisingly it cut amazingly well on the cabinet grade 1/2 inch plywood and 1/4. Did ok on 3/4 but was just about half the speed of 6 amp one (it’s 4 amp for the new one).

Meanwhile have to decide what kind of burial to give to my old jigsaw & test out a new Wen jigsaw I just got in the mail.

P.S. Looks like it’s been replaced with another one

Hey mate, what’s your view on cordless vs corded jigsaws for basically the stuff you do and maybe some sheet metal. I’m thinking if you don’t have a highend brushless jigsaw with a lot of batteries, then corded is the way to go? Thanks and keep up the good project vids 🙂
