See, if you off set the hole on one side though, it will draw the pieces even closer. The movement will cause that gap to get wider. Amazing – but still not perfect.

I’m in America 🇺🇸in oklahoma where people don’t want to pay skilled craftsman and they hire cheap labor and get shity work but I’ve been doing woodworking 14 years and have no work? People want to pay $1900 for Lowes cabinets instead of $7500 for cabinets built with maple plywood and solid wood faceframes and doors they are happy with partical board and stickers that have wood grain ugh god help

I can’t imagine how long it took him to create this one piece. Mechanically it’s amazing and beautiful.

But the skill he uses to refine this piece of wood into this perfectly precise finished piece is amazing. I’m also amazed at what you can do with what I’m assuming is an incredibly sharp chisel.

So for my A Levels which is what you do after high school to get onto university I had to come up with a project that I wanted to make and complete and I chose to do a chabudai with western influence and I chose for the top of the chabudai to be all put together with 4 Kane Tsugi joints… my god is it hard so far but if I pull it off this will be the product I’ve ever made

Even if you’re doing simple amateur projects, a Japanese saw is just killing it, every woodworker should have one.
