Great little plane for around the shop or tool belt onsite!

This is my favorite plane. I also have the modeler’s one. They are just so easy to use and fun.

    I’m sorry, I just couldn’t help myself.

Hi! I have read that that particular bronze alloy can mark/stain the wood, specially when working with light woods. Being a guitar builder that could be is big problem for me. What can you say about that? thanks 😀

thank you much for sharing all your videos – great job.  I’m wondering if you have any plans for your clamp holder you’d be willing to share or sell?

    Peace,
    Angel

the way not to take off the end grain is to turn the piece around and plane from that end,but not go quite as far as the other end.

Throttle the kids back when filming. You can hear them in the background 1/3 of the video.

I’m a model-builder so believing that Lie Nielsen knew something I didn’t I bought their model-builder’s plane. It doesn’t have an adjuster so it’s a little more fiddly to set up. Their model-builder’s plane has a squirrel tail.

About a year later I went back and bought this plane which they call a Violin Maker’s plane I believe. The soles and body shape are identical. The Model-Builder’s plane is cast iron as opposed to this one which is bronze.

I definitely like this one better. It’s way faster to get adjusted so I can get to work.

The way you adjust the left right balance is cleaver.

Is that plane really sharp? It looks maybe not fully sharp.

    25 + 18 = 45 uh I mean 42 um lets see…. where’s common core when you need it?  Oh that’s right, that’s how I got those answers.

I have their modeler’s plane. It’s a beauty and works great!

I almost got this one instead but I liked the squirrel tail on the one I got.

Bevel up block plane? As every block plane on the planet is bevel up, as a matter fact the bevel up is what makes it a block plane, This is an unnecessary overstatement. And, sadly, a bit of a credibility drop to any of us who actually use these tools.
