Make A Jigsaw Guide Track || DIY Jigsaw Straight And Crosscut Jig

A jigsaw is a saw which uses a reciprocating blade to cut irregular curves, such as stenciled designs, in wood, metal, or other materials. Today they are electrically powered and known as scroll saws, and have been largely displaced by portable power jigsaws. In this video i show you how to make jigsaw guide track, which is very useful for woodworking. This crosscut jig is useful to straight cut. I hope you like this video.

This us great but it might be better to just get some table saw under 200.

It would be amazing for you to make the same jig, but with clear acrylic so that one can visibly observe the cut line .

Thank you for not using the bench saw. Most of the DIY guides almost always uses a bench saw. The very reason I need a jig saw guide is because I don’t have a bench saw!

That’s a brilliant project no question on that, but Don’t you think it’s a bit hard to see the marked line. I am also thinking of making something alike but first need to have solution for this too
I also guess are those big holes are for the that.

Whenever I use a jigsaw and ruler to support one side of jigsaw foot, or a guide supporting both sides of jigsaw foot, I get inuppropriate results, the blade goes under angle.
From my experience consequently, both types of jigs are inappropriate for jigsaw, at least for mine.
I have green Bosch jigsaw. I measured the foot and blade angle with inclinometer, and they seem to be parallel say less then 0.2° mismatch, quite close. The blade is 20tpi, the reciprocial move is turned off, everything in order, but the jigs tested generally unusable.
I do not advise making these, either with one or with two supporting sides. Only hand guidence of jigsaw should be practiced, or making blade guidance with two ball bearings to keep the blade perpendicular.

Nice jig, especially if you don’t have a miter saw to make these cuts. A jigsaw and a scroll saw are different tools, though.

Hey. I saw this video today and I popped out to my shop and made one. THANKS! Your gift content keeps on giving.
I did make mine 48" long. I should have stopped at maybe 38 inches long. That way It can be flipped around and would fit better in my service truck better.

  28. wcartaya on February 11, 2022 at 10:51 pm

I am trying to build the cutting station for the jigsaw, but after having the pieces assembled I try to make the cut in the table that will serve as a guide and the blade is twisted to one side and the cut is not straight, making a curve.
(I used 15mm pdf) Any idea why this might be happening?

  29. Miguel Molina on February 11, 2022 at 10:53 pm

jesus christ. is this what becoming an old dad is like? how excited i am to make this?

  30. Dimi Partcaster on February 11, 2022 at 10:54 pm

I watched a couple of tutorial videos but I couldn’t understand the point of the holes in the guide. I mean this 4:33 What’s the reason of this? It couldn’t be only the straight line, so the blabe can running through? Why the blade has to cross from the holes? Thanks in advance and also very nice job!

  31. Shantel Guetgen on February 11, 2022 at 10:56 pm

Nice, nice, very nice. However, you can make it better. Just google Woodglut and learn how to do it easily.

  42. Russell Motter on February 11, 2022 at 11:14 pm

    Great craftsmanship!
That’s a whole Lotta work to cut a line with a jigsaw but it looks great.
I guess if you use a jigsaw a lot would be practical.
I think you would get a much straighter cut with a circular saw and a straight edge.
Jigsaw blades has some waiver to it when you cut.
    Very nice jig though!
like I said if I needed a jig made I would hire you to do it 👍

  48. witt gal on February 11, 2022 at 11:24 pm

It is not necessary to hold it all with your hand, you can fix it with a clamp, right? but the device is efficient. 👍

  49. Octahedron on February 11, 2022 at 11:24 pm

Same problem than other jigsaw “guides” : you can’t see shit through the guide so how can you align the cut with a line ?
