Nice work Glen, great commentary easy to follow, something others do not give, thank you.

  2. Gyser on April 21, 2022 at 6:21 pm

Very nice! I really like this. May I ask, is there a reason why t-track was only used on end of the fence, but not on the other end? Just wondering

there should be something on the oppose site able to hold it tight so you have a solid grip while you cut. its pretty important. it came with my saw this way.

    Brilliant video tutorial, thanks!

  7. Jason M on April 21, 2022 at 6:25 pm

Built this yesterday but having a problem with the fence flexing at the end. Seems like where I connect fence to the handle part it wants to pivot from that point. Any suggestions?

  8. Witchcraft Automotive on April 21, 2022 at 6:27 pm

This is great, I bought a used table saw that didn’t come with a fence, so now I am going tpo try and build something similar for it.

  9. Holland Custom Woodworking on April 21, 2022 at 6:28 pm

I think I’ll utilize a similar build for my band saw. Love this idea!

  10. HawkeyeSTiGuy on April 21, 2022 at 6:29 pm

Great build! I’m in a position where I have an old portable table saw handed down from my grandfather. I honestly have no clue how he built anything with it, because it is on the low end! Not the worst, but the fence refuses to stay straight, the miter gauge is useless, & the top is very small. Eventually I want to get a nice saw, but I need to use the one I have to get by for now. Definitely going to build a bigger top for it & a fence like this.

This is an older video, but I’m an old fart so it balances out. I’m looking to build a new fence for my table saw. It has a rack and pinion mechanism that moves and locks the fence from the front to back of the saw. It uses a similar T track on front and back for alignment and anchoring. The only difference I need to do is to put the locking mechanism on both ends of the fence.

How well did the PVC work for you? I would have thought it would warp especially since it was on a board instead of a ply. But I think it will have little friction.

I’m considering using two 1/2" oak ply laminated together with melamine on the blade side of the fence.

The fence isn’t too bad on my saw, but it isn’t good for jigs to go over it. However, Hatachi did make it easy to change fences with the T slot connections. It uses stops so I can take the fence off and put it back on and it will be precisely adjusted the same every time.

Hi, hope you can make a video on how to put a riving knife on a home-made table saw. More power. Thanks.

  20. Leon Jerome Echo 3 on April 21, 2022 at 6:40 pm

Did you use a circular saw as a cutter in that thing sir??

  21. ALEX WHITE on April 21, 2022 at 6:41 pm

Can you put another T track on top too? From the opposite side ..so it wont play

  22. Cambo Karate on April 21, 2022 at 6:42 pm

    Good video

  23. John Fox on April 21, 2022 at 6:45 pm

Thank you for sharing this. This is just what I wanted, a simple, easy to make, fence. I have an old garage-sale find craftsman table saw and it’s fence is useless. I’m building a workbench that I can put the table saw in, and wanted to add a exterior fence. I love the design, although I think I’ll use all wood so I can screw on sacrificial fence for when I use my dado blade. Maybe when my skills improve I’ll make something a bit more complex, but this fence will help me get to that place and I appreciate your taking the time to document it.

It is reckless to post these home-made table saw videos. Many novices will see this and think it is great and try it for themselves, no riving knife or blade guard, hope you like having stumps instead of fingers or getting brain damage from kickback.
Maybe you should make a video about making a riving knife for the home made table saw instead of this unsafe nonsense. You should be ashamed.

  35. Angela Burt on April 21, 2022 at 7:00 pm

I love your videos and tutorials. Do you have plans for this fence. I would like to make one to replace my flimsy one.

  36. Rico T on April 21, 2022 at 7:01 pm

Maybe you can put some kind of guide rail on the other side of th fence or another T rail with a slider as you did in the front where it tightens up maybe something with notches you have a good mind I know you will come up with something
