Me before the video: "Hey maybe I’ll just make my own clamps."
After: "Nah".
in order to save hundreds of dollars you need thousands of dollars in machinery.
I don’t see any sawdust when he’s cutting, is this reality? €;-)}…ok he tripped the breaker, now I believe
My goood!!!
By the time you finish them, it is more efficient to get 15 dollars metal pipe clamps. But I understand you just do it for content in YouTube.
They’re giving them away at estate sales.
Just bought 4 vintage
¾"x4′ pony clamps for $5 bucks.
AMAZING
That’s not peening
You must have all the free time in the world! 🙄
FANTASTIC MAN! thank you!
9:33 clampception
Dude really buy 2x8s to make 2x4s..
Good video. I never trip a breaker. My table saw and welder are each on dedicated 220 circuits, Just about every thing else is on their own dedicated circuits (router table, compressor, drill press, etc). There are many other 20 amp outlets around the shop for other power tools. 200 amp service.
Ponele la protección a la amoladora, nabo!
Thank you very much I never thought of making my own clamps but I have been getting tired of purchasing them and they do cost a lot of money this is going to save me a ton of money
Cheaper buying clamps the time you shell out the cash for the power tools to make them ?
I like your table saw… can you provide the manufacturer and model number?
This has happened to me before 😂 I hate it. 3:10 makes me think I’m breaking my saw.
With the price of lumber right now it might just be cheaper to buy them
Is this Santa?
Awesome video.
do you cook?
I would use maple
Put the knife and blade guard on that table saw ffs! You’re asking for trouble!
8:45 . . . why not a nylon lock nut?
But what clamped the clamps that clamped the clamps?
this is very good, but first let me have thousand dollar power tool
this idea is for someone who want to make a big party furniture, so no more buy clamp thumbs up
Lots of wasted time making wooden clamps, buy the steel type clamps …..time is money!
I find it very amusing that you’re clamping the clamps you’re making with clamps you made so in the future you’ll have more clamps to clamp more clamps.
Awesome, but if they are anything like my pipe clamps, I’d have them covered in glue drips after a couple uses. Pipe clamps clean up pretty easy though.
I am surprised you didn’t just up the size of the breaker.
I cringed a few times when you were using the table saw. Not very safe way of working.
Very brave of you John… taking on Big Clamp like this! 😁 Excellent work… liked and subscribed and added to my ever growing project queue!
It impresses me what great ideas you have and then how skillfully you implement them. Watching your videos, everything seems so simple and logical. And if you already work with wood, why do you have to buy metal clamps for a lot of money. Simply great what you do 👍👍👍
I’m waiting for the "how to build a car out of wood" video..

You had me at prototype…necessity is the mother of invention and "got a need and not a lot of money" is the poor step sister (or brother in this case)
love your build style of using the blocks of pine against 2 sides of 1/4 inch, im totally going to use that, thx
awesome!
Clamptastic!
Those clamps are very nice and in several ways better than steel clamps. First, steel is hard; it’s possible when swinging steel clamps around that you accidentally knock your project and leave a nasty dent. Less likely with wood. Second, steel clamps are heavy and have a greater chance of overpowering and throwing your project off balance. Third, it’s satisfying for the ego and the pocketbook to make them yourself. Yes, they may not exert as much clamping force as steel does, but you simply don’t need as much clamping force as steel gives; more force is not better.
awesome!
well its 2021 and these clamps might cost 400k now. 😉
Thank you so so much.
Due to current wood prices. i think the title should be updated to "Spend Thousands of Dollars". LOL
Hey John. I must have missed this video earlier, but found it after seeing your most recent F style clamp build. The newest clamps look awesome and effective for being a relatively simple build. I already have TONS of F style clamps, and was looking at a parallel style instead. A set of Bessey clamps would be like a mortgage payment so I took a look at this build. Do you feel that the soft wood bars are sufficiently strong to generate good clamping pressure (for the average project, like drawer builds)? Maple would be stronger for the components, but certainly a bit pricey. Would a three layer sandwich of 1/2" BB ply be a good substitute for the bars?
Very happy to find another Canadian on YouTube.
The dollar difference and availability of things in Canada, sometimes makes it hard to watch the US produced videos. Nothing wrong with the videos or creators, but there is a problem when much of what is discussed, is simply not available, or cost-prohibitive…especially when you live most of the way to the Arctic Circle.
Subbed fella!

Make the color a little difference, otherwise you may cut off them too.
Nowadays, you save more buying metal ones. What a crappy day and age.
You just need a fully kitted out workshop to build these ..If you haven’t get yourself down to a hardware store and buy some clamps.
