Me before the video: "Hey maybe I’ll just make my own clamps."
    After: "Nah".

  2. Velha Guarda Tricolor on December 27, 2021 at 7:53 pm

in order to save hundreds of dollars you need thousands of dollars in machinery.

  3. Steven Boyd on December 27, 2021 at 7:53 pm

I don’t see any sawdust when he’s cutting, is this reality? €;-)}…ok he tripped the breaker, now I believe

  4. Francesco Ricci on December 27, 2021 at 7:54 pm

    My goood!!!

  5. David Gonzalez on December 27, 2021 at 7:54 pm

By the time you finish them, it is more efficient to get 15 dollars metal pipe clamps. But I understand you just do it for content in YouTube.

  6. somebody Nobody on December 27, 2021 at 7:55 pm

They’re giving them away at estate sales.
    Just bought 4 vintage
¾"x4′ pony clamps for $5 bucks.

Dude really buy 2x8s to make 2x4s..

  13. Ron Hansen on December 27, 2021 at 8:02 pm

Good video. I never trip a breaker. My table saw and welder are each on dedicated 220 circuits, Just about every thing else is on their own dedicated circuits (router table, compressor, drill press, etc). There are many other 20 amp outlets around the shop for other power tools. 200 amp service.

Thank you very much I never thought of making my own clamps but I have been getting tired of purchasing them and they do cost a lot of money this is going to save me a ton of money

  16. sheepskullcaver on December 27, 2021 at 8:04 pm

Cheaper buying clamps the time you shell out the cash for the power tools to make them ?

  17. Dallas Acuff on December 27, 2021 at 8:05 pm

I like your table saw… can you provide the manufacturer and model number?

  18. versatile duplicity on December 27, 2021 at 8:07 pm

This has happened to me before 😂 I hate it. 3:10 makes me think I’m breaking my saw.

  19. Cheese_Nips on December 27, 2021 at 8:07 pm

With the price of lumber right now it might just be cheaper to buy them

  20. Doug Adams on December 27, 2021 at 8:08 pm

    Is this Santa?
    Awesome video.

  21. Salvatore Borriello on December 27, 2021 at 8:09 pm

    do you cook?

  22. Walter Lane on December 27, 2021 at 8:09 pm

    I would use maple

  23. Zoe Summers on December 27, 2021 at 8:10 pm

Put the knife and blade guard on that table saw ffs! You’re asking for trouble!

  24. MrSmackdab on December 27, 2021 at 8:14 pm

    8:45 . . . why not a nylon lock nut?

  25. Retropixelfun on December 27, 2021 at 8:16 pm

But what clamped the clamps that clamped the clamps?

  26. ardiuna on December 27, 2021 at 8:16 pm

this is very good, but first let me have thousand dollar power tool
this idea is for someone who want to make a big party furniture, so no more buy clamp thumbs up

  27. Stephen Smith on December 27, 2021 at 8:16 pm

Lots of wasted time making wooden clamps, buy the steel type clamps …..time is money!

  28. Michael Gibbons on December 27, 2021 at 8:17 pm

I find it very amusing that you’re clamping the clamps you’re making with clamps you made so in the future you’ll have more clamps to clamp more clamps.

  29. Zeb Fischer on December 27, 2021 at 8:19 pm

Awesome, but if they are anything like my pipe clamps, I’d have them covered in glue drips after a couple uses. Pipe clamps clean up pretty easy though.

  30. gojitmal1978 on December 27, 2021 at 8:20 pm

I am surprised you didn’t just up the size of the breaker.

  31. Arash Jalali on December 27, 2021 at 8:21 pm

I cringed a few times when you were using the table saw. Not very safe way of working.

  32. Aron Bartle on December 27, 2021 at 8:21 pm

Very brave of you John… taking on Big Clamp like this! 😁 Excellent work… liked and subscribed and added to my ever growing project queue!

  33. Burkhard Hiemisch on December 27, 2021 at 8:23 pm

It impresses me what great ideas you have and then how skillfully you implement them. Watching your videos, everything seems so simple and logical. And if you already work with wood, why do you have to buy metal clamps for a lot of money. Simply great what you do 👍👍👍

  34. Robert Perry on December 27, 2021 at 8:23 pm

I’m waiting for the "how to build a car out of wood" video..

  36. Steven Boyd on December 27, 2021 at 8:25 pm

You had me at prototype…necessity is the mother of invention and "got a need and not a lot of money" is the poor step sister (or brother in this case)

  37. james wolf on December 27, 2021 at 8:28 pm

love your build style of using the blocks of pine against 2 sides of 1/4 inch, im totally going to use that, thx

  38. Christian Fischer on December 27, 2021 at 8:29 pm

    awesome!

  39. wo sw on December 27, 2021 at 8:33 pm

    Clamptastic!

  40. fred Berger on December 27, 2021 at 8:35 pm

Those clamps are very nice and in several ways better than steel clamps. First, steel is hard; it’s possible when swinging steel clamps around that you accidentally knock your project and leave a nasty dent. Less likely with wood. Second, steel clamps are heavy and have a greater chance of overpowering and throwing your project off balance. Third, it’s satisfying for the ego and the pocketbook to make them yourself. Yes, they may not exert as much clamping force as steel does, but you simply don’t need as much clamping force as steel gives; more force is not better.

  41. TeflonGoon Esq on December 27, 2021 at 8:35 pm

    awesome!

  42. Neeboopsh on December 27, 2021 at 8:38 pm

well its 2021 and these clamps might cost 400k now. 😉

  43. Hoenhiem Of Light on December 27, 2021 at 8:39 pm

    Thank you so so much.

  44. PoodlePuncher on December 27, 2021 at 8:40 pm

Due to current wood prices. i think the title should be updated to "Spend Thousands of Dollars". LOL

  45. Andrew Bieger on December 27, 2021 at 8:41 pm

Hey John. I must have missed this video earlier, but found it after seeing your most recent F style clamp build. The newest clamps look awesome and effective for being a relatively simple build. I already have TONS of F style clamps, and was looking at a parallel style instead. A set of Bessey clamps would be like a mortgage payment so I took a look at this build. Do you feel that the soft wood bars are sufficiently strong to generate good clamping pressure (for the average project, like drawer builds)? Maple would be stronger for the components, but certainly a bit pricey. Would a three layer sandwich of 1/2" BB ply be a good substitute for the bars?

Very happy to find another Canadian on YouTube.

The dollar difference and availability of things in Canada, sometimes makes it hard to watch the US produced videos. Nothing wrong with the videos or creators, but there is a problem when much of what is discussed, is simply not available, or cost-prohibitive…especially when you live most of the way to the Arctic Circle.
    Subbed fella!

  48. Rock Matthews on December 27, 2021 at 8:48 pm

Make the color a little difference, otherwise you may cut off them too.

  49. Phenom Menon on December 27, 2021 at 8:48 pm

Nowadays, you save more buying metal ones. What a crappy day and age.

  50. FreezinFury on December 27, 2021 at 8:50 pm

You just need a fully kitted out workshop to build these ..If you haven’t get yourself down to a hardware store and buy some clamps.
