I’m a carpenter in the middle of fifties. Woodworking is far from my major job. I may stand somewhere between hobby carpenter and expert. So my skill hasn’t matured fully and I make many mistakes in the videos. I hope you would forgive me generously.

A late bloomer carpenter’s woodworking diary. This is the motto of my channel. I enjoy making furniture and videos. And using my leisure time I make videos and share how I make and my idea that comes to my mind. Those are sometimes childish and sometimes not too bad. What I want is you just enjoy watching one or two of my videos and fly to other channels better than mine.

I’d like to progress my woodworking skills through struggle to make furniture and videos. And I hope those can help you encouraged for woodworking.

Thanks for reading

Use my table saw as a glue-up workbench and see what happens.

Nice work! Just not so sure about using your table saw top for a work bench 🤨

  21. ben on February 21, 2022 at 11:04 pm

great work! i have also made a bedframe with the same castle joint. I found the TOP connecting piece tends to be weak during installation due to the end grain being all the way at the end. ( hard to explain, but who attempts will also notice)

Imagine building a corner of a house with this method. Wonder if it would pass code?

  25. AndyPanda9 on February 21, 2022 at 11:07 pm

3:00 I don’t see why you bothered to drill holes and use the band saw if you’ve got the jig to use the table saw 3:28. Why not just use the jig and table saw and skip the holes and band saw?

    Very good looking joint, clever.

Beautiful joinery, I thought it was a lost art.

  35. Fasola Gri on February 21, 2022 at 11:19 pm

Beautiful looking joinery…a joint and aesthetic in one! Thk u for posting. However, myself being a newbie woodworker, I am confused as to what benefit the dovetail dado serves? I could see maybe if the dado was used in a long run vertical post for construction that the 90° grain orientation would give greater strength and stability, but for a smaller project, ie a nightstand, not be of much value? But like I said, I’m a newbie, so I’d be interested to know what I’m missing? thx

  37. Jac Norton on February 21, 2022 at 11:22 pm

Nice looking joint. however I believe the traditional mortise and tenon joint is stronger and longer lasting.

Is that a Star Trek uniform?

  41. ladamyre on February 21, 2022 at 11:27 pm

A lot of these "Strongest Joint" videos are joints that rely heavily on glue for their strength. I see pieces of wood that have 80% of their natural strength carved away to make a cool looking joint, but that needs glue to work well. They’re not joinery that will last a hundred years. As soon as the glue degrades, so will the joint, and because we live in a world with humidity, these "Strongest Joints" will not be strong for long.
But no wonder. People are buying furniture made out of "engineered wood" all the time. Get it wet once, in two weeks you’re buying a new one.

The joint probably doesn’t even need glue.

I’m building a deck for my back yard and I plan on using this method. Thank you for tutorial!

  48. Coin Op on February 21, 2022 at 11:35 pm

You put glue on the peg and slid it into the channel scraping off alot of glue. You’d have lost more if the peg was a better fit. Next time put the glue in the channel first. 👍
