Cool! Great Job!
Sum it up in one word… “Perfect”… Ok a Second word… “Crazy”… LoL
Wow, i should watch it before i made all mine, new suscriber, nice work. Working on it.
i’ve watched it for 3 times, and still..; is that a dovetail you made for the hardwood to slide in, or just a regular 90° route? i do like it a lot. too bad i dont have a saw like that in the first place. if one would come fall out of the sky i would love it hahaha.
This is awesome bro’. I’m going to make one today for my old Grizzly table saw.
Genius idea. Thanks for sharing.
Very clever idea. My table saw is an older Delta 36-230C contractor saw. It has a very narrow lip (about 1/8" wide) all the way around the opening and about 1/8" deep from the top of the table. So I can’t make a thick insert like the one you did. Do you have any suggestion how I can do this? Thanks.
That’s a great idea
Nothing crazy about this woodworking idea! This is great for a saw with an insert as thick as yours. My saw is a Kobalt K1015 with a much thinner insert. Would this not necessitate cutting an extra rim around the edge to let it set flush with the table? I like your idea and it would indeed make life easier for anything other than my crosscut sled which is it’s own zero clearance insert. And thanks for giving Infinity Tools credit. I love their Thin Rip Jig for making thin strips. Thank you for sharing this and your other ideas.
Your not crazy bro. You’re a genuis man. I wish I had that talent.
Very nice. What is that angle indicator called?
This is sexy
Terrific idea.
because i needed another project on the to do-list 😉 thanks for the tip! you earned a new subscriber! gonna check your other videos out now!
Great idea but where is the slot for a proper riving knife?
очччень интересное решение с "бутербродом". лайк за выдумку однозначно!
Great solution!
wow, best table saw zero clearance inserts I’ve seen so far. So efficient too and looks easy to exchange.
Clever idea! 🙂
I have been thiking of making something similar . Thank you for your idea as how to make it.
Excelente
I am building a sliding table saw and would like to use your idea which I think is great!. Would you share the measures of the finished plate? Thank you.
excelente idea
I really need to get my router into a table…
awesome 🙂
A great video, and a brilliant idea. I just love the idea of an inserted riving knife also.
Awesome idea. I need to make a new one this week and I’m definitely going to take your approach. Thanks!!

why 60 degree?
best one yet
Cool! important for me
👍 Bello!
Too complicate!
Very Very good idea! Thanks
Nice work Michael. I like that you marked all the inserts before cutting, I have a hard time remembering that!
This looks like the one Norm used to have on NYWS. The company that made his is long out of business… building one is a great idea!
Wish my table saw could use that style… I’ve got a thin lip all around the outside, so the plate can’t be more than 1/4" thick total. Seeing this video gave me an idea… I could machine some aluminum to the right thickness & use that to support the rest.

could you also do the angle cuts with a dovetail router bit?
Excellencel, obrigado por compartilhar. Direto do Brasil.cellent
Very clever and useful. Thank you so much for sharing this.
I have Delta’s bottom of the product line table saw (Model # 36-725) and it has a very cheap, thin steel insert plate. I have painstakingly made a few blank inserts for it and will try adding your amazing adaptation to one of them.
Just a note on my Delta Model # 36-725….it isn’t a terrible saw for the money, but I would not buy it again. The table isn’t completely flat, and the thin throat plate is horrible. Also, it uses 2-piece front and rear fence rails which can be problematic. Also, it has only 3 wheels on the integral mobile base which I find very awkward in actual day to day use.
Thanks now I’ve got to find someone with a machine shop to copy this newer jet contract saw that isn’t meant to be moved. No one is making plates for this new model yet. Its a rectangle not round on the ends. And has a twist down table lock.
And leveling feet.
I might use a wood frame unless I can get it made out of aircraft aluminum and use hnlp or what ever its called plastic for the plates instead of hardwood. But this was crafty.
And you’ve come up with a way to copy a factory made device norm used on his TV show.
Search norm and you’ll see the original one in use.
a cool ting i like it
awesome!!!!!! great idea, thanks for posting.
Absolutely top idea!!!
I noticed that all your cuts had the fence parked over the insert to keep it from lifting up with the rising saw teeth and flying toward you. For cuts where the fence does not hold the insert down, it seems like it would want to jump back at you. The factory insert has a tab on the far end to prevent this.
Very nice idea
Super idea – I like it!
I’m in process of making some inserts. The 1/8" thickness seems fragile. Watched your video many times. Your inserts look more thick, like 1/4". That seems a more sturdy depth thickness. Good video, very usable project. Thank you!
Very smart idea of the replaceable incerts. And no matter who created it first. Thanks for sharing!
