the old d handle brushed version never fails to impress me!

  2. bravo55d on November 21, 2023 at 11:36 pm

Another great review of a new tool from Makita. Any thoughts on the CXT barrel grip version? Maybe a comparison video between the three?

  3. Rodney Oliveiro on November 21, 2023 at 11:40 pm

Great review! Do you know where I can get one though? It doesn’t seem to be available on ebay like the other xgt tools. Have bought the blower, impact driver from Japanese sellers but can’t seem to find a listing for the jigsaw.

  4. TxVet 77 on November 21, 2023 at 11:42 pm

So the XGT lost some weight in the hips huh! Lol…it’s all in the hips!

  5. YPSILON on November 21, 2023 at 11:43 pm

Barrel grip is the better choice if u cut upside down.
•Cleaner resunts with upside down cuts
    • for this kind of cuts the trigger of the D handle saw is impractical.
•you can see the saw blade better with upside down cuts.
    Great video for the Weekend.

Hello, great review. At the end of your review, I saw that the 40v XGT model reduces the frills, after sawing, and also when you turn this jigsaw on the ball. the 18 volt model can’t do that and keeps the frills constantly. I recently bought a 40v XGT version, BUT my revs are not decreasing like in your video – what could be wrong? or is it an additional option?

I have spent thousands in makita tools because of this channel, is there a support group for this yet? I feel like I need a tools and stuff made me buy it support group.

I have the DJV181, hadn’t noticed that it was made here in the UK. It was bought recently so does have the switchable mode.

  10. Ken Leach on November 21, 2023 at 11:48 pm

    D handle variable trigger

  11. Ian Maw on November 21, 2023 at 11:49 pm

The DJV185 is the newest LXT barrel grip jigsaw. It would make for a closer comparison. Great video as always.

  12. Robert Rada on November 21, 2023 at 11:49 pm

If they trimmed down the waist, that means there was room for a normal (and reachable) switch. 😂. Hal effect sensors ain’t that big, yo. I may have to get the d if it truly ships without auto. I have no preference. I’m bi.

  13. ElleWo on November 21, 2023 at 11:50 pm

Personally I’m disappointed it’s made in China. Sooo many Made In China Makita (non domestic especially) I know a lot or most companies obviously do this. But it doesn’t make it any less annoying. I go way out of my way to buy made in Japan Makita. So unfortunately if there’s a UK model(s) to consider I will go with any other country if at all possible. Super unfortunate tho. I use CXT, LXT, XGT in part to get the highest quality Makita tools (aka Not China) Makita has a new “Made In Japan” Drywall/Sheetrock/Plasterboard whatever u want to call it. ScrewGun. With a kinda D style handle. I think the MN is FS600DZ. That would be an awesome review too. Anyways Great vid as always! Cheers!! Xx

This is getting out of hand. My bosch 12v jigger is a beast. I’m sure an 18v is more than enough. Why? At what point does the unnecessary never ending consumption stop?

  16. wearsjorge55 on November 21, 2023 at 11:52 pm

Ended up getting the m12 jigsaw because its a barrel grip with a trigger. The angle adjust is just a simple lever which is nice but it comes loose all the time. The saw is ok, does what i need it to do but feels like its always holding on for dear life

  17. Aaron O'Connor on November 21, 2023 at 11:52 pm

The barrel grip is really good for coping so I will likely pick this up.

I have the hikoki/metabo HPT D handle and its a great tool makita has been a little slow to the market on some tools.
Most of the time I prefer a D handle jigsaw but with a coping base the barrel grip is best for that. Its just awkward to hold a D handle upside down

  18. reginalb124 on November 21, 2023 at 11:53 pm

Not going to lie, was really expecting more. If it’s so similar the the 18v, why did this take so long? Am i the only person for whom this is a very basic tool that a platform needs?

At least it’s here and a good performer.

  19. Homer J on November 21, 2023 at 11:53 pm

Barrel grip for me. I have the corded Makita and like it. It has a sliding thumb switch and not that silly push button pad that the wife will put her fingernails through. It will outlive me and I can keep using it no matter how many times Makita changes their battery platform. I’ve had 5 different Makita battery platforms, landing on lxt. If I buy another battery platform, it won’t be Makita. Makita, where is the LXT "cordless" pruner?

  20. rob500100 on November 21, 2023 at 11:54 pm

Definately a D handle for me

  21. Nathan on November 21, 2023 at 11:57 pm

I was really excited for this, but the lack of polycarbonate shielding/dust collection and AWS makes it questionable.

Jigsaws are often used on site for coping/final fitting, the place where you most want/need dust collection.

It’s beginning to feel like Makita is now being run by bean counters who don’t understand their products. I understand cost management, but you can’t have premium prices with budget features

  22. B B on November 21, 2023 at 11:58 pm

I’ve always bought single/dual 18V Makita, but have been waiting for the full 40V line to see if I’ll stay with them. The functionality trend seems to be moving further away from practical excellence to keeping the engineering theorists and cost optimising accountants happy. Too expensive, too much missing functionality (Allen keys to adjust the foot, seriously, in 2024?!? No variable speed trigger?!? Crappy dust collection?!? No integrated AWS?!?). Is the famous durability enough to compensate? I can’t see myself sticking with Makita much longer.

  23. Richie James on November 21, 2023 at 11:59 pm

Also I wish they put a second set screw on the baseplates. it’s too easy to knock the base out of square. Only takes one drop. a positive detent on 90 would be a nice little touch too.

  24. Charizz Kalum on November 22, 2023 at 12:00 am

I build architectural builds over in greenhithe i made the mistake of investing in dewalt tools .. the trigger settings seem to have a mind if there own after a while 😅 makita looks good but im in the middle of a change to hikoki if you want to review so hikoki or DeWalt tools let me know i can loan you

  25. Silky_ on November 22, 2023 at 12:04 am

I work with metals and I don’t necessarily need absolute precision, but I’ve tried both and D handle is easier on my wrists at the end of the day.

  26. uberwayz on November 22, 2023 at 12:06 am

I don’t understand what Makita is trying to do with some of these 40v tools. If they aren’t more powerful then there’s no point in them existing. The overwhelming majority of 40v Makita tool owners are multi platform 18v/40v.

Im still waiting for Makita to make a 40v heat gun, however instead they seem to be determined to make pointless 40v tools with no benefit over the 18v

  27. Dude on November 22, 2023 at 12:08 am

Hey @Tools & Stuff, i wanted to ask how i could get my hands on the bl4040f. I tried buying it on zenmarket and they could not ship it. I am willing to spend $220 USD and live in the usa.

  28. whya2ndaccount on November 22, 2023 at 12:13 am

I have a DJV184 18V, but only use it once in a blue moon.

  29. Sydney Tools TV on November 22, 2023 at 12:14 am

😆😆At the end talking about your comment section…. relatable content.

    Love your work

  30. Tom c on November 22, 2023 at 12:14 am

Makita are getting lazy bringing out 40v version tools pretty much the same as there 18v tools. This jigsaw needs a clear plastic chip/dust shield to contain the dust better when using a dust extractor.
They should put a side switch ok the jigsaw like the hikoki one. These two things are what hikoki managto do on there first model they brought out.
This 40v xgt is just a waste of time and money

  31. Tomma Claxton on November 22, 2023 at 12:14 am

    Orbitalisation 😂😂😂😂

  32. Eliot Truelove on November 22, 2023 at 12:17 am

It’s funny, I like that brushed jigsaw too. I haven’t used any barrel grip yet though

  33. Mark Hedquist on November 22, 2023 at 12:18 am

Do you have the little 12v CXT Barrel Grip? Line them all up for a nice family photo. Come on….

  34. Pat on November 22, 2023 at 12:18 am

d handle for the control no stupid button 40 volt d handle would be very cool hopefully it comes with AWS

  35. Patrice Colas on November 22, 2023 at 12:19 am

I’ll only get a barrel grip when there’s a trigger on it.

  36. Richie James on November 22, 2023 at 12:19 am

made in the Uk?? what the deuce? since when? 😂
The best jigsaw makita made was the original lxt version before the first brushless one with the annoying soft start and even more annoying on button. terrible tool.

  37. amin jablaoui on November 22, 2023 at 12:24 am

    D handle

  38. Mike Smith on November 22, 2023 at 12:25 am

    D handle ftw.

  39. D L on November 22, 2023 at 12:25 am

  40. Phil M on November 22, 2023 at 12:26 am

You go from a dck video to one talking about strokes and sucking🤣🤣

  41. Richie James on November 22, 2023 at 12:27 am

Wait a minute, makita made a tool that’s not fully compatible with THERE OWN BATTERIES? (Can’t tilt base fully) wow. that’s a pretty epic fail really.

  43. Robert Rada on November 22, 2023 at 12:28 am

    Hey babe.

  44. paul dawson on November 22, 2023 at 12:30 am

They are missing out on upgrading the 40v to a quick release base instead of the hex key. Bloody annoying.
Im still using my 110v bosch for lots of jobs as the hex key base release is too slow to flip side to side.

  45. Eliot Truelove on November 22, 2023 at 12:30 am

Is the compact 18v barrel grip Jigsaw just released any worth it?

  46. Nicholas Lacovara on November 22, 2023 at 12:31 am

    Another great review!

  47. kizz jd on November 22, 2023 at 12:31 am

I had the brushless d handle jigsaw that didnt have the soft start turn off feature and it annoyed me so much that i sold it and bought the brushed version, which I actually think is better.

  48. Julian Fisher on November 22, 2023 at 12:34 am

We’ve got the 18v version of the barrel grip & once to get use to it love it to bits. Understand your feelings but we just back off to stop for detail work.

  49. kizz jd on November 22, 2023 at 12:34 am

Can you compare this to the hikoki? Ive used the hikoki a while back and the power was insane.

  50. FixthisCD on November 22, 2023 at 12:35 am

I so thought you had it backwards, I thought the O at the front was orbital and the 3 lines signified straight. I better check my jigsaw now. Had to look at Makita manual to verify, seems backwards to me
