My All-Time #1 Table Saw Hack

A quick look and demonstration of the most useful table saw accessory I have found over many years of table saw use.

    Free blocks?! I am in!

  4. David Curtis on February 15, 2023 at 5:21 am

Dad showed me how to use this about 55 years ago. Also the fence.

  6. Phil Lambert on February 15, 2023 at 5:23 am

Brilliant – I have just received my new clamps and was wondering how to fit the featherboard. Now I do, so thanks for that 🙌

  7. Tom Sardo on February 15, 2023 at 5:24 am

Thanks for the informative video. I will make my sanding blocks but if I win, I’d take it.

  8. Dean Morrell on February 15, 2023 at 5:24 am

I like my stop block a little shorter than my fence. Gives a place for sawdust to go so it doesn’t interfere.

  9. Ken Shall on February 15, 2023 at 5:24 am

    Featherboard is awesome tip.

I’ve been using power tools for years, and only 2 tools make me nervous to use. Angle grinders and table saws. Any tips or advice on how to use table saws more easily and safely is always welcome. (Sorry for the lack of snark this time, I’ll try to do better on your next video 😏)

Australian here. We’re used to missing out on U.S.A. giveaways but the rest of the world is too.

  12. Paul Lobwein on February 15, 2023 at 5:25 am

Very simple but effective tips. I really like the one about position of the feather board to be honest. Makes sense to not have to put much more pressure then needed by having it in the centre.
Sanding blocks are cool but pretty sure us Aussies could wrangle one up all while putting another shrimp on the barbie 😉😉😎

Great video. I’m inspired to build my auxiliary fence now.
    Question for you.
Is it possible to build a 0 tolerance plate for that saw?

  14. Gerald L. Hunsucker on February 15, 2023 at 5:26 am

No such word as “orientate”, correct word is “orient”

  15. Tony Ahlstedt on February 15, 2023 at 5:26 am

Thanks for the hacks! Block me!

Hey there! Am I too late for some wooden sanding blocks!? haha.
Wondering if you have any tips for overcoming table saw fear/nervousness? It’s been about 4 years since I’ve used mine. I had been using it for a good 6 or 7 years before with no issues. Always felt a little badass, as a woman, using this tool. I was cutting hardwood one day and somehow the wood split, I think from a knot, and got stuck, ended up flipping the metal throat gate up and shooting it at me, while pulling the wood. I thought I was seriously injured- Thank God I only ended up with a scratch on my arm when it shot by. Since then, I have been so nervous and hesitant to go back to it, and have been sticking to my miter and circular saw. I respect the machine/power and know that if I am nervous and not in control, that is not good – but I don’t know how to overcome this. Any tips? Has this happened to you with any tools? Thank you for all the helpful videos! I’m upgrading my knowledge base and tools with every watch! Love from LaSalle, Ontario! (Family on Nanaimo!)

Any pros and cons for battery operated table saw vs corded, as a portable table saw for home diy?

  18. justin burgan on February 15, 2023 at 5:27 am

4:00 I just had this happen and was kicking myself. Sorry about your fence but nice to know it can happen to the best of us.

  22. Stephane Killawee on February 15, 2023 at 5:35 am

Hello… What kind of table saw do you have?
I think your Canadian, and I am as well… It’s hard to find anything except a Saw Stop here.

  23. Hank on February 15, 2023 at 5:36 am

    Challenge for a couple blocks?

  26. 2get2Terrapin on February 15, 2023 at 5:40 am

Don’t need blocks, good sir, but as a Ducks fan, I must stand as your opposition in the Pacific division. 🙂
The sport is filled with fabulous teams this year; it’ll be a great playoff season. Good luck to the Canucks!

  27. Ashok Moghe on February 15, 2023 at 5:41 am

Nice video – you just added to my shop to-do list :-). Also not sure if the sanding block draw is over by now 😉

  28. Chris Moore on February 15, 2023 at 5:41 am

I would absolutely love and appreciate a block. I’m relatively new to woodwork (I used my first saw ever 9 months ago, and have since built a starter workshop) and haven’t used something like this. If not, thank you for the video—it was incredibly helpful!

  29. Current Electrical on February 15, 2023 at 5:41 am

  32. jake sacco on February 15, 2023 at 5:45 am

    I don’t want a sanding block. I’m only commenting because I’m from Australia 😂

  33. Steven Gregory on February 15, 2023 at 5:45 am

Good job, thanks for sharing. I make similar sanding blocks for small or irregular spots.

  34. Daniel Emanuele on February 15, 2023 at 5:47 am

Fantastic video! And valuable information. Thanks for sharing!

  35. MrFrankrizzo5150 on February 15, 2023 at 5:49 am

I have to honest and say that as soon as I saw the sanding blocks video last year, I immediately made one. But as you warned – they are like potato chips and I had to make another. Your sanding blocks changed my life….snif…Others need them more than me..

  36. Harry Chisholm on February 15, 2023 at 5:49 am

Thanks. Good advice. Seems that a lot of people are talking about kick back lately.

  37. Barry Ford on February 15, 2023 at 5:52 am

Hey, send me some sanding blocks, I’m in Australia! (Just kidding).

  38. Amy B on February 15, 2023 at 5:52 am

Dude you’re the best! I had the-caulk showers and completely used every tip. Thanks for doing these videos. If you have anything on exterior cement board and how to repair, please share!

Thank you for your information and making it easy to follow!

  40. Dumbo Tater on February 15, 2023 at 5:55 am

Everything you say sounds like a question??

  41. James Rogers on February 15, 2023 at 5:57 am

Good tips, I’ll definitely implement them soon. Actually so good they should be considered basic necessities. I’ve done some stupid stuff with a table saw. Need those clamps.

Great idea sanding blocks just starting out some great ideas

  43. TCPUDPATM PORTS on February 15, 2023 at 6:02 am

I don’t want to win, but I’d like to comment to help the channel 😛

  44. André Bartels on February 15, 2023 at 6:02 am

You can glue yourself an inverted L-shape (with the flat part to the left) and attach it to your side fence for very narrow work pieces on the far side of the blade. This will give you some extra room for your handling tool.

  45. Sean Brotherton on February 15, 2023 at 6:03 am

    Love sanding blocks.

  46. Tom Sardo on February 15, 2023 at 6:05 am

What table saw are you using?

  47. Jerry Cooley on February 15, 2023 at 6:08 am

YouTube is my go-to place for great ideas. Your video did not disappoint. I am new to woodworking. My dad was an excellent woodworker. I did not ask how to do things when he was alive, so I thought I would get started now. The sanding blocks you used look like they are easy to make. But, as I have learned, when someone offers to do something for you–ACCEPT! What I am saying is, if I win your drawing, I will gladly accept your custom-made blocks. Thanks for the tips. I will keep watching.

where have you been my whole life?

  49. M A on February 15, 2023 at 6:10 am

I’ve always wondered why the saw mfg. that grind the dado grooves in the top don’t also scribe a perpendicular line in the top that allows alignment of the adjustable miter gauge at 90 degrees especially useful for long wooden extensions.

  50. Woodmaster Pete on February 15, 2023 at 6:11 am

for a while I have used the 1 inch hack because I make wooden molds and the side pieces are all small measurements that must be perfect…just ADD 1 inch to the measurement desired…… make a test cut ti verify and cut several..Amazon has a milescraft product I use to make these
