RIDGID OCTANE 18V BRUSHLESS JIGSAW- AMAZING POWER! BLUETOOTH BATTERY!

RIDGID OCTANE 18V BRUSHLESS JIGSAW- AMAZING POWER! BLUETOOTH BATTERY!

Today’s episode of Tool Review Tuesday features the Ridgid Octane 18V Cordless Jigsaw. I show the advancements made on Jigsaws since I was a kid. My first jigsaw was made by Rockewell/ Porter Cable and it had very few features compared to this new one. If you click the link below, you’ll see the amazing reviews found on the Home Depot website, like a 4.7 star rating with over 500 overall reviews. I know that I’ll be using a jig saw more often now, especially since it’s cordless. This is a tool-only item, so any 18V Ridgid battery will work however, I recommend the Ridgid Octane 18V, 6Ah Battery, seen in this video. Please let me know if you have questions.

Question of the day: Does this jig saw have all the features your looking for? Would you do bevel cuts with it?

1:00…Looks like a converted hand mixer. With a blade on it, LOL.🤣

Do another review showing the real capabilities of a jig saw such as curves or circles!!

  3. TragestyX on May 7, 2022 at 7:06 pm

I got to say, you have trouble making a straight line and cut it seems haha

  4. Alonzo Farmer on May 7, 2022 at 7:07 pm

I’d use a circular saw if I’m just making straight cuts!

  5. The Crazy Repairman on May 7, 2022 at 7:08 pm

How well does it do scroll cuts? Ridgid has really been knocking it out of the park with this Ocatane line,I’ve been super happy with them and switching everything over to them.

*BLACK+DECKER makes excellent tools🌗 **allabout.wiki/BDEJS600C** . I am reminded of this every time I pull out this jigsaw or use my BLACK+DECKER router. High precision, fantastic performance, lots of power, great control, etc. BLACK+DECKER tools do tend to be more expensive than average and this jigsaw is no exception, but the fit and finish of the tool make it money well spent. The only complaint I can come up with is that there is no dust extraction system, but I don’t think any jigsaw I’ve seen (outside of festool) has that.*

Great review Mark! I really enjoy your channel, this review came in handy as I had just ordered this saw! Keep up the great work!

Mark, suggest using a clamped on wood fence to keep your cuts straight. I have had many RIDGID cordless tools, including this one, and I use a wood fence as a guide when accuracy is important. Use it for circular saw cutting, too. Great results! . Great video, thanks!

You’re a strong man to be able to lift that 6 mAh battery. I go with 2 or 3’s to keep the weight down.

So did you say Any older 18 V rigid battery will work with this, or is the octane battery A different shape and size? I almost bought this tool the other day but the pic on the box of the octane battery looked like it was different. I’m really hoping my older 18 V batteries are not obsolete to use with the new octane brushless tools!

I like this guy. He seems like a nice, genuine, honest fella. Great review.

Clamp down the T square and slide along the edge as a fence 🙂

  14. Dirtyharry70585 on May 7, 2022 at 7:26 pm

use some ‘D’ clamps to hold down the steel ruler to the wood and table. Mark dark outside is when you need a flashlight 🙂

  20. Ray W on May 7, 2022 at 7:42 pm

Hi Mark appreciate your review. Quick question, how well does this saw handle blade deflection for you? During your cut on that 2×6 it seemed to have produced a rather beveled cut instead of a square cut, which what I experience too. On mine the bearing guide can shift left and right a bit, which I believe to be a cause of the issue…

  21. Michael Mastenbrook Sr on May 7, 2022 at 7:46 pm

Did they give you the saw and battery? Looks very expensive

  22. CovertOps on May 7, 2022 at 7:46 pm

Man! You never showed us HOW to insert the blade into the unit and how deep it goes. You mentioned it but never showed it.

I Love power tool Ridgid 18v OCTANE

Awesome review Mark. Very well details… Hate to see you cut that pricy, "fancy" plywood… Thank you…Keep up the great job.

Have you tried the Ridgid Octane cordless circular saw. Any comments on that. I am looking at getting the circular saw or jig saw as a free tool with a purchase of the drill and impact driver kit. Any feedback would be welcomed.

  26. Ryan Nguyen on May 7, 2022 at 7:56 pm

Can you show it’s cutting left and right tight curves? (1.5in radius). I have a B&Decker and cutting right curve causes the blade to go outward on a treated 2×4. Thanks.

I have a few other Ridgid products and gave been considering the octane jigsaw. Thanks for the review and all who commented. It was all very useful.

What’s the point of having a cordless tool when your just going to hook something else onto it to restrict you (The vac. Hose). Might as well get a corded tool.

    Awesome saw, awesome video!

  30. Michael on May 7, 2022 at 8:01 pm

Why do all the jigsaw makers produce a tool that makes it hard to see the blade cutting path? Every jigsaw is the same in this regard – I can’t see where my blade is cutting.
