Routers for Beginners- woodworking

Routers for Beginners- woodworking

Hey guys! I had a few friends who are new woodworkers as me to make a quick video on routers! I am not going over router tables in this video, just trim routers and plunge routers. I run over what they do and how to make a cut!

As always I will answer any questions that I can, please like and subscribe and hit that bell to get notified when new videos come out!

Hi, is it possible to use this type of router to cut simple circles? If so, will it attach to a circle guide kit?

Nice video. I’ve got one of these coming soon so I figured I’d see what others have done with it and you’ve given me a good heads up on how to handle it. Thanks for making this video.

I’ve got quite a bit of experience in the machine shop and wood shop so I should know what I need to do but I also know I’m always learning.

    Happy New Year!

  12. MeM on February 19, 2023 at 5:38 am

I want to get into woodworking and one of my first jobs is replacing a tabletop. I want to cut a 3m surface into 2 1.5m surfaces. I read somewhere that a router can do this, but from watching this video I am not sure. Is a router what I need or maybe a circular saw? If the router can do it then I would like the router as I might do the edges.

Women are always reliable sources of common sense advice. Thank you for teaching me how to use a router. None of the male reviewers could stay on track and talk about the basic functionality. Thank you!

Hello, thanks for this video really helpful! could you tell me, is it possible to perform surface routing with the Ryobi trim router?

  24. Amma Nonna on February 19, 2023 at 5:55 am

Could you help me? I’ve never used a router. Ive honestly never done any wood work. I’m making a bookcase and i just installed my bit and tried on a piece of scrap wood. i tore the board up and it almost jumped out of my hand. All i want is to make the space that the shelf boards will sit in. The board is 3/4 in deep? My bit is 3/4 straight. Using a Dewalt compact router. I’ve watched a ton of videos and the trim work is awesome but not (joiners? i think)

  25. Aj W on February 19, 2023 at 5:55 am

How did those router bits hold up? I need some but for what im doing i dont wanna spend too much. Im building speakerboxes so im using mdf.

Very good video! I just bought my first router and this helped me a ton. Thank you!

  37. John Zoetebier on February 19, 2023 at 6:07 am

I noticed your hand holding the wood besides the router. If you loose control of the router you may cut your hand or fingers. Please use a wood clamp to prevent accidents.

I was wondering how you keep your trim router from biting in too far? Your cuts are nice and straight….
I tried using my ryobi trim router straight out of the box on a nice antique dresser top and now have to replace that top. Is there supposed to be a guide of some sort on it or what? Do I purchase that separately? Please help! I don’t want this to happen twice.
