Secret Tips the Woodworking Pros Won't Tell You
Woodworking Pros and Journeymen Carpenters always have a bag full of little tricks they use for more accurate and quicker builds, which they will seldom volunteer because they use them so often, they forget they even use them … like a more accurate miter saw cuts, unconventional woodworking techniques for better finishing results, unscrambling table leg positions and thinking ahead to what best topcoat finish to apply for less distracting wood joinery issues.

Another good vid, Colin.
There is a bit of an Architect’s mantra that’s relevant to joints or any detail in a design :- "If it looks ‘orrible, make a feature of it."
It goes on :- "If it still kooks ‘orrible, paint it white and if it still looks ‘orrible, box it in and paint it white." 😎👍
Your presentations are very helpful, sir.
Thank you for giving your time to us.
You are absolutely awesome. I’m a lockdown newbie woodworker living in a London flat (my shed!) and I’ve learned so much from you. Thank you 😊
I’ve been watching your videos on tips. Love them all. I can’t find or remember what you said you liked using instead of wood stain.
You can also draw a triangle on the leg ends.
The journeyman I first apprenticed for used the line and tick method but the cut was supposed to leave the line and tick on the waste. He hated searching for pencil marks.Years later working for a new journeyman. He made a dash to mark length then marked the line creating the same shape in random orientation. After much arguing we finally figured out why every cut was shy or proud.
I appreciate your offer to come talk at my group. I believe you are coming to talk to us in a couple of weeks and I am very excited.
secret tips woodworking.. Very helpful..
Good stuff, Colin, as usual!
Mr Colin thank you sir
Hello from Auckland, New Zealand, those are great tips, bro …!
Pay that man!

Still can’t believe I found your channel, thanks a lot!
Hi My Friend, Just happened across you and your content..46 seconds in and I’m Subbing based on your opening statement in this post….Any person who gives their time for free to help Educate and Impart their Knowledge for the benefit of others is a Person quite rare these days…Much Love and Peace..
Your so giving !!! You get all the likes from me!!
Thankyou so much Colin, the number of times I’ve messed up my leg orientations in the past, never again though. Peace and love, Bob
You are such a nice guy! Née subscriber. I bet you are a pleasure to be around, a good teacher, and a friend for life.
Thank you for your help, these videos have saved me so much time and frustration
Another great learning experience from one of the best wood working teachers on You Tube. Thank you Sir.
I use a .3mm mechanical pencil for accuracy. The biggest variability turns out to be inaccurate tape measures. I find that they all give different measurements! Straightedge metal yardsticks are no better.
Hello. Great videos. Can you tell me which scrapers you use? I can’t seem to find any.
Hi Colin, love the tips it the remembering them I find the bugger, but yours are good cause there ones I would possible use a lot. One of the tips you had for legs was good, but I use another method which is less work and I find simpler which is, I just use a capital letter across the top of all 4 legs like a B, just use a letter that can’t be turned like an O etc, like your hill method for glueing up, they have to go back exactly how you set them up and there always in the same position. Thanks for the Videos always enjoy the helps and tips.
Free! What a legend 👍
Thank you very much for the tips, Colin. Perhaps another has already said this (there are a LOT of comments). WRT the 1-2-3-4 markings, I think you only need the 1, 2, and 3 using your method. The 4th seems redundant to me .
Why wouldnt the pros tells us? Its not like me knowing their “secret” would prevent them from earning a living.
I would call those small tricks of a great master!
Good tips!
you goodman.
Love the Fifth Element 1 thru 4 markings
He’s one of the best – practical, straightforward and easy to follow. There’s no cheesy music, which forces me to turn the sound off and the subtitles on and he’s safety conscious too, without being overboard about it.
Colin, such simple points but can make a big difference and easier. Thank you.

You make me smile, Colin.
Brilliant! Thanks mate, subscribed.
It’s a good thing you’re am amateur or we’d never get these tips. 😉
I love it. Thank you for sharing.
Very great tips thanks!!
I’m a woodworker of 45 years and I learnt a better way from this video today. Nice guy; good presenter; excellent content
Yep, secret tips Pros don’t tell cause they don’t use them like your circle in ~4:00. I learned to use a triangle 🙂
Me: Uses sand paper and eraser to erase graphite lines
This guy: I UsE a GlUE STicK Or rUBBINg ALcohol
I watch this at the begining so quick, so what i catch is that we can have some mettings with you by zoom, it’s that right? if so i want to know the zoom id and password. Off course if that is possible. Good day to everyone
Thank you Colin 💕
Very informative. Thanks for sharing your expertise in so many ways.
Another great one Colin. Thank you.
thanks
Those lines of the legs reminded me of the Fifth Element, nice!
for the 1, 2, 3, 4 marks on the end of a set of legs you could also draw a triangle it works similar to your mountain before jointing tip. nice well made video!
I pup little teency x’s on my waste side of line.
