What blade would you say works the best for ripping plywood and OSB

  2. Scott Morris on February 26, 2022 at 11:26 pm

Does CMT have a local presence, when they can be sent to for sharpening? Or have someone else sharpen them like Forrest?

  3. Stefano on February 26, 2022 at 11:28 pm

Copper is THE BEST heat coductor after silver!!!!

  4. Scott Morris on February 26, 2022 at 11:30 pm

Growing up, I was always told that the speakers made up half of your audio system. Great Receiver, cheap spaekers, terrible sound. I have learned that the blade is half the table saw. Good saw, good blade, good cut.

  5. David A on February 26, 2022 at 11:31 pm

What blade would you choice for flooring vinyl plank

  6. wieland12 on February 26, 2022 at 11:31 pm

FYI still getting the deal on the CMT blades

    Thanks for the truth!

  8. Dean Y on February 26, 2022 at 11:33 pm

Great information on selecting the right blade for the right job, which I certainly will use in purchasing a miter saw blade. Unfortunately for me, the availability of high quality blades from the likes of CMT, Forrest and Ridge Carbide are nonexistent in an 8-1/4 inch table saw. Short of getting a bigger saw, cheaper blades will have to do for a hobbyist like me.

    As usual, great video.

  9. Cletus Tollery on February 26, 2022 at 11:34 pm

Forrest, Forrest, Forrest….. As a cabinet maker for 30 years….. After I bought my first one, never bought from another company. Custom blades, sharpening and phenomenal customer service. Oh yeah…. 100% USA company and, did I mention….. The best customer service and custom blades and dealing with a literate and competent representative.. "Forrest style" blade comment was funny

I just saw this video today. I’m looked to purchase one to try. Is there a difference between the Orange painted ones as opposed to the Metallic ones? It may have already been addressed but there are close to 400 comments. Thanks for the video.

  13. Ron Crandall on February 26, 2022 at 11:35 pm

Do you still feel the same about the CMT blades, or would you rather use Forest blades?

  14. Martin Marquez on February 26, 2022 at 11:39 pm

I didn’t check all the links but the link you posted for the stop block on is detected to the page for the dovetail jigs. You might want to adjust your website. Good luck. Thanks for a great video with wonderful explanations.

  15. Jane Golden on February 26, 2022 at 11:40 pm

What company produces, and would you recommend for the purchase of an ATBR blade you discussed?

  16. Erik Rave on February 26, 2022 at 11:42 pm

    Great explanation 👌

Do you also have affiliate links for people in Europe?
I’m in the market for a table saw blade!

  17. Rob R on February 26, 2022 at 11:43 pm

You said "These are all FULL KERF" blades"………..I am confused because the CC 80 T blade (285.680.10) that you show is a THIN KERF blade. Which do you recommend, FULL or THIN kerf?

  18. FRAN7 on February 26, 2022 at 11:43 pm

this cursed machine the circular saw is, do yourselves a favour and buy a jigsaw instead, if you’re a hobbist you’re not in a hurry, if you’re a contractor it can take longer to complete the job but you can rest assured your life and limbs legs and fingers aren’t at risk. plus it’s more versatile since if equipped with the right saws it can cut metal too and make curves. if you need to make grooves use a dremel or a grooving machine. circular saws and angle grinders need a lot of safety improvements besides their useless guards.

  19. Charles Stout on February 26, 2022 at 11:44 pm

What’s the Difference between a General Purpose and a Combination Blade? I have Dewalt 7485 8 1/4 inch Blade. I’m using the one that came with the saw. I wanted look into other blades. I’m new to Woodworking as a weekend warrior.

Between you and stumpy nubs I’ve been buying all sorts of stuff I absolutely "need"

  22. Clayton James on February 26, 2022 at 11:45 pm

Thanks for another great video! I’m looking at creating a new lineup of blades for my TS. What’s your go to blade if you need a flat top grind? I’m thinking stuff like finger joints or half laps or tenon’s. Thanks!!

  23. Joseph Lebo on February 26, 2022 at 11:46 pm

This is a great video with lots of helpful information, but I’m still stuggling with the practical difference between a general purpose vs combination blade. I just got my first table saw, the Dewalt 7491rs and want to get one nice blade to start. I’m thinking a thin kerf general purpose or combination blade but I really just don’t know which I should get. 40T ATB general purpose? 50T ATB combo? 50T ATBR combo? I will be doing a lot of general lumber and plywood for awhile before venturing to nicer hardwoods. At that point I will be getting dedicated ripping and cross cut blades but just want to start with one all around one now. Thanks!

  24. Dutch Kushman on February 26, 2022 at 11:46 pm

I bought a table saw today. Thanks for all the info

  25. Kenny Homer on February 26, 2022 at 11:48 pm

I buy my blades from harbor freight. They cut better and last longer

  26. David B on February 26, 2022 at 11:51 pm

My Forrest WW II combo blade doesn’t cut as well now that it has a saw stop stuck in it 🤬. Oh well 10 years without setting it off was a good run. I have been thinking about getting dedicated blades for a while anyway. Came across this video researching what I should get and I’m going on your recommendation on the CMT chrome blades. A rip and a crosscut blade cost me just as much as a new Forrest combo. Hopefully they are as good as you say. Your code still works as well. Thanks.

  27. jose milian on February 26, 2022 at 11:53 pm

would have been cool if you gave a bit of info on what blades cut certain materials better and why you want to use specific blades for different materials and then maybe show some cuts on different materials.

  28. Adrian on February 26, 2022 at 11:54 pm

The 12" blade you show here for you mitre saw is a thin kerf blade. Do you need to use the stiffeners on the mitre saw when using a thin kerf blade? I know a stiffener is neccesary for a table saw thin kerf, but I feel like it wouldn’t be neccesary for a mitre saw thin kerf.

  29. Corbeaux on February 26, 2022 at 11:55 pm

What if you don’t live anywhere near a place with re-sharpening services? Would it be more cost effective to buy the cheap blades and replace them as needed?

  30. 王宁 on February 26, 2022 at 11:57 pm

we are on of top ten manufacturer in China ,our circular Switch blade has the best quality and low price .

Copper not a good conductor of heat?
Preeeeeetty sure silver is the only element that is better than copper…

  32. glen paul on February 27, 2022 at 12:03 am

As a point of accuracy, a non-carbide ripping blade does not have a flat top grind and the teeth are also slightly offset. Example is my Sears Craftsman 27 tooth Chromedge ripping blade that is not carbide tipped. I recently bought a bottle of the CMT blade cleaner. It works well but it does remove some of the red paint from my Freud blades…FYI.

  33. Cam Priole on February 27, 2022 at 12:07 am

I purchased CMT blades for both my chop saw and table saw. They are incredible. Very sharp, Mirror like finish on my miter cuts. Thank you for the recommendation.

  34. jibba02 on February 27, 2022 at 12:08 am

2:00 Copper IS a very good conductor of heat.

  35. Rob James on February 27, 2022 at 12:09 am

I’ve actually learnt a lot of different things in this one video. I either need a blade stiffener and or a better blade. How much power does a table saw need to be to use a full kerf well?

Buy the blades you can afford there’s nothing wrong with any of these blades thanks for the education

  38. J S on February 27, 2022 at 12:10 am

Great video. Why can’t you use a crosscut blade for everything? (Other than grooving with the ath). Won’t it just cut slower?

  39. smacfe mcafee on February 27, 2022 at 12:10 am

September 18th and the code still works. Great prices on these blades AND the new 3M sandpaper which is a must buy item as well. Thanks!

  42. anthony yribe on February 27, 2022 at 12:14 am

This is Tony (Legacy Furniture LLC) from Sacramento. Katz, bro, I hope you know how much your video helps people.

  43. JeremyZ on February 27, 2022 at 12:15 am

@ 2:04 "…cause copper is not a very good conductor of heat" Actually copper is an outstanding conductor of heat, second only to silver. Its thermal conductivity [BTU/(hr·ft⋅°F)] is 232 vs 17 for steel.

To me when someone brings up something like that it smells like marketing, and when it is flat out wrong it damages credibility. Using supplied marketing materials is fraught with peril. Sometimes there can be a debate about nuances and subjectivity of the "wrongness" but not in this case because this is pure physics and copper is a phenomenal conductor.

  44. Boran Theki on February 27, 2022 at 12:18 am

I just put a new blade on my track saw after 5 years. Holy toledo!!!

  45. PJ Camejo on February 27, 2022 at 12:18 am

Great video. One thing though – copper transfers heat much better than steel. That is why it is used in heat exchangers.

  46. Dariush Milani on February 27, 2022 at 12:19 am

Jonathan, your educational videos are great. Keep up the good work. Regards from UK 👍

  47. jacob brown on February 27, 2022 at 12:21 am

I am artisan who builds high end art furniture. If the blades are high quality you don’t have to buy the two hundred dollar blades. I have been getting by with dimar, Freud and marples for years. I sharpen them my self. Usually get 8 sharpenings per blade. Use the right blade for the right job. Just like a band saw less teeth more wood removal , more teeth less wood removal and cleaner cut

  48. David Chester on February 27, 2022 at 12:22 am

Do you recommend thin kerf or full kerf for a 1.75hp saw?

  49. Russell Harrison on February 27, 2022 at 12:22 am

I’m just over here with my ryobi table saw and like Jeez that blade is what I paid for the full table saw Dang haha.

  50. boomerangfreak on February 27, 2022 at 12:24 am

So I’ve been looking for a FTG blade for cutting joinery on my tablesaw.
Only thing I seem to be able to find so far is a 18T ripping blade. Would that be viable for things like cutting grooves and finger joints in plywood? Or would that chip out too much?

It’s for my Dewalt tablesaw and cmt doesn’t make in the the 250mm size I need.
