Setting Up My Dream Table Saw! 5HP Sawstop!

Setting Up My Dream Table Saw! 5HP Sawstop!

I’ve been on the hunt for a Sawstop table saw for a long time!

I finally found one second hand at a machinery auction and in this video I go through the process of installing it in my 7′ x 12′ work table.

This is a 3 phase, 5HP industrial saw. Check out this video to see how I manage to install this 575lb saw by myself with just an engine crane.

For the price they charge for that saw, would you not expect to have leveling feet? Otherwise, nice upgrade, enjoy.

  2. Dill Pickles on February 24, 2023 at 6:14 am

How much did you pay for the sawstop?

  3. Howard Vaughan on February 24, 2023 at 6:18 am

Hi so can you explain how/why its safer. Thanks: Chipper

  4. BlahBlahMan Yeah on February 24, 2023 at 6:20 am

For that amount of money, this saw would cost, if cabinet or furniture making is main trade, baseline sliding table saw would be better investment, IMO. Thanks for sharing!

Nice video, and I like yout shop and big table. In the UK you have to have a Riving Knife and a guard over the blade incase your foot slips on the dust and you fall on the blade. Most people couple the blade guard with an upper extraction system.

  6. Dennis McKeown on February 24, 2023 at 6:22 am

How did you solve the mitre slots not lining up on the plywood sheet ?

  7. Arpad Builds This - Woodworking on February 24, 2023 at 6:22 am

In your future videos, I don’t see a riving knife on your sawstop, but I see one on that saw at 0:48. Riving knives are the most important safety device on any table saw.

  8. Jerry Hubbard on February 24, 2023 at 6:23 am

I think you should put you finger in the saw running and test the brake.

  9. Lightning48 on February 24, 2023 at 6:24 am

    Good job!

  10. Leandro Costa on February 24, 2023 at 6:24 am

Very good !!! You would have some step by step making ruler that you placed in the new saw?

  11. Jake Falzarano on February 24, 2023 at 6:26 am

    Where is your outlet located?

  12. Michael Livingston on February 24, 2023 at 6:27 am

my dream saw is either powermatic or a old delta unisaw I have a delta but only like 20 years old I use Saw stop at work but for myself i don’t want one .

  17. Derek Joyner on February 24, 2023 at 6:29 am

It’s not fair. You have more tools than I do and I have a lot of tools. I only have a delta unisaw and you have a jet and a sawstop. Sawstop is no good anyway. Haven’t you ever seen a guy using one and missing a finger. I asked if he bite it off and he said no. So it must of been sawstop. I’ll get rid of it for you and put the jet back in. I won’t even charge to haul the sawstop off for you.

  18. Jerry Hubbard on February 24, 2023 at 6:31 am

Why wouldn’t a saw that expensive come with adjustable legs of feet. Makes NO since.

  19. Peter Fitzpatrick on February 24, 2023 at 6:35 am

    3 phase .. 💪💪💪

  20. Tom Williams on February 24, 2023 at 6:35 am

Nobody likes full volume sped up power tool noises

  21. John Wayne on February 24, 2023 at 6:35 am

I thought the Saw stop came with adjustable feet?

  22. Jeremy on February 24, 2023 at 6:35 am

why 5 hp? Woodworking is my hobby. How many hp do I need?

  23. David Martin on February 24, 2023 at 6:36 am

Let me take that old Jet off your hands I will put it back to work for ya…

  24. Humblehombre on February 24, 2023 at 6:39 am

Why do you worry so much about saw dust?

  25. Виталий Нежинский on February 24, 2023 at 6:39 am

Here is a machine! I am impressed! I would like that. Sorry, you can ask, what is the price of such a machine?

  26. George Woerner on February 24, 2023 at 6:40 am

Saw Stop did not just do it Correct , THEY Did It Right, Instead of making their unique safety system the main feature, THEY made their Saws Correct. Almost ANY tool review, SAW STOP came in first, Out of the box one of the best with no adjustments ( I am thinking, what would a beginning wood worker need, maybe my 15 year old daughter, needs a shelf) Bang, that trip to emergency has been avoided. What is THAT worth ? OK, the TRUTH, I just bought a Skill Saw table saw because I needed something ( and Skill is NOT a JOKE anymore , used to be ) Skill also makes a FINE saw ( or 2 or 5) at a good price. As much as I Love saw stop Skill has a place here. Everything is what YOU make it. I may have to make a video of my own about the new Skill I just received.

that’s the industrial cabinet saw, yes?

  28. socrate164 on February 24, 2023 at 6:42 am

Very good videos but a mic or voiceovers would help when you’re away from the camera.

  29. Gino Asci on February 24, 2023 at 6:43 am

You pried it up with a crow bar……don’t you mean a rooster bar?
    Well, doesn’t a rooster crow.

  30. Bobby Stanley on February 24, 2023 at 6:47 am

Do you think you needed the 5hp or would the 3 hp have been plenty????

  31. Rodney Koop on February 24, 2023 at 6:48 am

I chuckled when i saw you made your own track for your circular saw.

  32. NewEra on February 24, 2023 at 6:48 am

I’m waiting for 12.5HP pro version with the leveling feet and factory calibrated tape measure already glued on.

  33. Bill Henshall on February 24, 2023 at 6:49 am

As I watched you show that beast who’s boss, I noticed your “holster” for lack of a better term. Did you make it or did you purchase it somewhere? If so, did you make a video of it or do you have the link so that I could get something similar?

  34. Joseph Casino on February 24, 2023 at 6:51 am

I hope the top is not warped

  35. Philippe De Vos on February 24, 2023 at 6:53 am

So I’m gonna get the Fein tool, and get my Milwaukee?

  36. Fran Manoulian on February 24, 2023 at 6:56 am

Eleven minutes into the video and the movers dolly is still on the friggen floor . Really ? Why ? I stopped watching and gave you a thumbs down ,for lack of a safe work environment .Not Cool

And no body else made comment .

  37. mrk107 on February 24, 2023 at 6:58 am

But that’s imposable to make everything?

  38. tactus tenebris on February 24, 2023 at 6:58 am

pencil jamming the critical safety device, very clever…

  39. Wood Slice on February 24, 2023 at 6:58 am

I think it might be the industrial version not profrssional.

  40. Chopper on February 24, 2023 at 7:00 am

  43. Homer Corley on February 24, 2023 at 7:02 am

I really liked how you fit your new Sawstop. Have you thought about getting a Festool track saw?

  44. Protect your DIGITS Creations on February 24, 2023 at 7:02 am

Hey Chris, I want to eventually do the same to my Ron Paulk bench in my shop but will need to get a contractor version of the Sawstop saw and permanently mount it to the bench. Your video is a great learning tool for my project in the future. Stay well my friend now back to sorting hardware. hahaha
