Well, admire your attention to detail, but you entitle your vid as ‘restoration’, ensuring the block and blade are flat and the blade sharpened certainly fall under the category of ‘restoration’, after all, an attractive plane that won’t cut is of little use for anything but a decoration.

Nice job, what kind of paint are you using?

Are you using a primer before painting? If not, what paint? Thanks. Tom

Hey Wesley – nice video. You do a great job explaining your techniques. I enjoy restoring old tools as well and find it a great way to get wonderful tools inexpensively. Keep ’em coming – enjoyed this.

Nice video. One question for you: how come you flattened the base without the lever cap on it? I have always heard that the lever cap can cause the cast iron bottom of the base to flex slightly so if you flatten without the cap when the cap is installed it is no longer dead flat.

I just bought one of these little beauties at a garage sale. It’s in nice shape and I’m sure I can get my $10 out of this tool in the lifetime I’ll own it. Great video. You have a nice small shop and workbench. I would include a little more backstory of the plane, years produced, common uses, what sets it apart from a 21. Keep up the good work.

Great job. I am a little bit limited on space, so I really liked the way you set up your portable grinder.
