    Seems like it would be better to just start with the 6 or scrub plane.

    Always felt No 6 was the step-child of hand planes but man can it remove some wood.

    Big, big fan of the #6. I love it for so many different things. It can do most all of what the #5 can do, but with the length, it is great for 80% of the boards I want to joint and level.
