  2. lurklingX on August 31, 2023 at 6:47 pm

woo. better option is miter saw? and i do in fact have one now.

  3. Ken Hunt on August 31, 2023 at 6:47 pm

    This makes sense.
Too many garages are ridiculous today. Expensive garage units, epoxy floors, heat/cooling and a $75k truck and 50k SUV.
Way over the top…it’s a garage.

  4. XG-Adventures on August 31, 2023 at 6:48 pm

Would you suggest staining or sanding it? Sorry if this sounds stupid, I am new to wood working.

  5. Mitch Johnson on August 31, 2023 at 6:51 pm

Are those the 27 gallon bins?

  6. MsLeelee94 on August 31, 2023 at 6:51 pm

It wouldn’t let me download the free garage shelves plans it’s perfect for my garage 🤷‍♀️ I think I join the wrong thing🤦🏽

  7. Eric Lian on August 31, 2023 at 6:52 pm

1:28 Good tips to reduce kickback? Chopsaw.

  8. Mark Schmitz on August 31, 2023 at 6:54 pm

I really like the simplicity and efficiency of these shelves. Most of the other designs are way overbuilt.

  9. Dexterous X on August 31, 2023 at 6:56 pm

*Mind blown 🤯! These garage shelves are the DIY storage solution I’ve been searching for! Can’t wait to transform my cluttered space into a super-efficient haven. Thanks for the step-by-step guide, you just earned yourself a new subscriber 🛠🔧🔝*

  10. Jimmy Warhorse on August 31, 2023 at 6:56 pm

Forget all this work and purchase a mini pallet rack, they are sold the Menards Stores. Takes 10 minutes to put together and the shelves are adjustable.

  11. Lewis4 on August 31, 2023 at 6:58 pm

I think your kickback would’ve been prevented if you were clamped on both sides of the cut

  12. Wayne Good on August 31, 2023 at 6:58 pm

I am getting my wood today and I am using regular plywood and decent 2X4’s plus delivery since I don’t have a truck and it is closer to $100.00

  13. George Papaioannou on August 31, 2023 at 6:58 pm

2×4 is overkill, unless you plan on storing engine blocks. I used 2×2 premium wood, so there is no warp/twist and with the better cut and sharp corners, it just looks better too. And 3/4 board is overkill too. I used 1/4-3/8 ply wood and then painted it for the built in custom look.

  14. Eric Connor on August 31, 2023 at 7:00 pm

You got kickback because you strapped two board together side by side, they flex and pinch that is quite dangerous. Cut one at a time or put one underneath the other. Also you should not cut the full depth on the first pass.

  15. Mark Williams on August 31, 2023 at 7:02 pm

    $10 for 7/16" O.S.B. Ah………..those were the days!!!!!!!!!!

  16. blaster 0416 on August 31, 2023 at 7:04 pm

YES but use 2x3s. Instead . They are less expensive, take up less vertical room leaving you more room for storage and are still more strong than you will need.

  17. gadoosher on August 31, 2023 at 7:05 pm

I’ve never seen that magnet trick. Brilliant.

  18. CJ on August 31, 2023 at 7:08 pm

I made something similar to this but I left those spacers in on each side. I do not trust the sheer strength of screws.

  19. Kevin Reynolds on August 31, 2023 at 7:12 pm

never had kickback with a handsaw. Also – free workout

  20. Patrick F. on August 31, 2023 at 7:12 pm

Some garages might have a drain in the floor in which case it will have a slope for drainage.

  21. Kaiser soze on August 31, 2023 at 7:13 pm

Too much woods for just that…

  24. Mike Page on August 31, 2023 at 7:15 pm

Why would you have a thicknesser but not a mitre saw🤔

  25. drippingwax on August 31, 2023 at 7:15 pm

I want a wife my height!
Or any height. I am so lonely!
Not to be possessive, but she needs to be my wife!
I have found other guys’ wives and that is trouble!

  26. Mr Bo on August 31, 2023 at 7:18 pm

    Amazing

  27. Mat's Channel on August 31, 2023 at 7:18 pm

  29. insidethe bnb on August 31, 2023 at 7:20 pm

    $60 3 years ago is now $9,107.99 + 11% tax.

  30. Joe Schmoe on August 31, 2023 at 7:24 pm

Holeh. Get a miter saw, my guy.

  31. Steven McHenry on August 31, 2023 at 7:25 pm

    Beautiful

  32. Jck Dnls on August 31, 2023 at 7:26 pm

I don’t think that’s up to code, and can we see the permit? – some Karen probably 🤣

  33. Bruce Martini on August 31, 2023 at 7:26 pm

I "wood" have put clamps on both sides of saw🤔

  34. Benny Wilks on August 31, 2023 at 7:26 pm

I want to commend you for showing the kick-back. Most would edit that out, bu8t the realistic, and responsible, thing to do would be to do what you did and leave it in. Great job.

  35. Engineered Mojo on August 31, 2023 at 7:27 pm

This was a clean and simple install, needed in these expensive times!

  36. Dylan James on August 31, 2023 at 7:29 pm

Those eight 2x’s already double the project cost in 2023

  37. electronic monk on August 31, 2023 at 7:32 pm

whats the measurements of those black/red bins and where can i get them? any link?

  38. James Stroschein on August 31, 2023 at 7:33 pm

Good job with the project and video. I like to staple a small piece of rubber or foam sill seal under each leg to prevent moisture wicking up from the concrete.

  39. Bela Sziklassy on August 31, 2023 at 7:36 pm

Built something like this with different plans I got maybe five years ago. Idk that they’re cheaper to build than buy these days, but Boy do I love them. Want to say I spent around $50 a shelf. It’s easily double, maybe triple that, today lol.

  40. Zac Hansen on August 31, 2023 at 7:36 pm

A straight 2×4. Funny funny guy.

  41. TigerRider on August 31, 2023 at 7:38 pm

Not worth DIY when you can get the steel knock together style shelves from Costco for $90. Assembled 4 shelves with a rubber mallet in an hour and the shelving is melanine coated for spills.

  42. jeanjcaron on August 31, 2023 at 7:38 pm

I just built one using the using for 16 2×3 with 2 sheets of aspenite. Made the shelves 7 Feet long and 14 inches deep. Very heavy and sturdy. No sagging whatsoever. No middle support. Used your model. Very happy with the results

  43. Sonny Yates on August 31, 2023 at 7:38 pm

4X8X7/16 osb FOR $10. Dead give away that this wasn’t yesterday.

  44. dead wood on August 31, 2023 at 7:41 pm

    one more ……so bad

  45. Henry Cole on August 31, 2023 at 7:42 pm

    Wow a new invention!

  46. Enrique Garcia Cota on August 31, 2023 at 7:43 pm

For avoiding kickbacks, if you don’t have a miter saw, just get them cut at the store. Some do that for free

  47. mrlafayette1964 on August 31, 2023 at 7:44 pm

Nice, so much better than the plastic ones that are weak and don’t hold up. Not overkill at all on the cross braces, without them that 7/16" osb will definitely give over time with any weight at all on it.

  48. Jeff B on August 31, 2023 at 7:44 pm

    This guy is really good

  49. Dylan lane on August 31, 2023 at 7:45 pm

the saw kicked back because you were cutting in the middle of two points putting tension on the top of the boards and cause them to squeeze the blade

  50. L F on August 31, 2023 at 7:46 pm

Pretty nice, but unfortunately you can buy shelves for the same price and save all the labor. I guess if you just enjoy building things or you get the wood for free then its worth it.
