shit, you’re moving too much… hard to follow wjile drunk 😅
One of the clearest videos I’ve seen. I am a amateur woodworker
Over the years; I’ve picked up a lot of hand tools..and a modest supply of power tools. Recently picked up a warrior cordless drill . So far holds a charge for quite a while. Again fantastic video.
I enjoyed this video. Must have missed the video of you making this bench. please advise where and if you could improve it. Thank you!
thanks man, i was searching for such a vice for my second (portable) bench. It’s perfect. Gonna buy that little Irwin !
I have missed this guy. It seems you are getting that spark back though so hopefully we have him back soon!
I find your lack of dust collection disturbing.
I hope you have fixed it by now. 🙂
How about a track under the bench you mount the vice to and then you can move around. Then lock it down tight.
I got one on Amazon made by groz for 34 dollars and it’s wonderful, had it for a while and it’s great
he lost me at making an AR15
Lost some of the video! It goes from attaching the wood faces to finished install and starting the planing process! Nice little vise
I decided buy that after watching this preview.
Thank you so much.
I installed this vise to put my actual vise in.
Very nice bench!
Irwin may not produce high end tools, but I also think they are one of the best brands to buy for the money. They kind of remind of Black and Decker back in the day, when they were the power tools to buy for any DIYer. I think no shop should be without the Irwin quick clamps. I have about 8 of them, and they never let me down. Those are some of the best made clamps on the market. I also have the Irwin Forstner bit set, and I have used them on everything from hardwood to MDF and they drill beautiful clean holes. You have to go slow with them, but if you do, they will last a really long time.
I think the vice is so good because it was designed by Record Ltd in Sheffield UK sometime in the early 20th century. The vices were marked as "unbreakable" in the 1909 patent documents. Sheffield is famous for the invention of stainless steel and was the world leader in tool steel throughout the early/mid 20th century. The Record brand was bought first by Marples (another Sheffield firm) and then by Irwin (from the USA) in the 1960’s, but the casting moulds stayed exactly the same till well into the 1970’s. I have family members who worked in the factory till 1987 when it closed.
Every "man"? Lol! Pretty funny
Can this be used for anything other than for fettling rifle stocks n crushing democrat traitors? 🤔🇺🇸
VISEGRIP, is a brand name for locking pliers, common knowledge, yes ? ,but no matter who makes them , everyone calls them vise grips rite,? , well , irwin owns that name, so i guess it stands to reason they would make a good vise, and it’s cobalt blue, awesome, i want one
Yo dawg I herd you like vices so I put a vice in your vice so you can grip while you grip.
Why not a vice to hold another vice .
fascinating and useful clip.
"let’s say I’m building an AR15" spoken like a true Libertarian 😎

you can thank Irwin for vise-grips as well.

12:30 *Thank You* . Now I know how I can fit an engineers vice on my extremely small bench as well as a very small carpenters vice. Much appreciated. 👍
long and hard.
Here I am , 3 years later, and I really like the little irwin vise i mounted to the bench. I just bought a Wilton, and the quality is just garbage compared to the little irwin. That little irwin has taken some real abuse for a small vise, and its held up very well.
"AR-15…." Snowflakes triggered.
Love that you said…in case you wanna build an AR15 👍🙂🇺🇸
I made mine for free out of a 2×4 and 2 long screws for all together if your going to buy it is $5 and bigger then that
Get a clip-on dust bag for your table saw, they work great. Got my $20 Irwin vise today and will use your ideas. Thanks!
if you’re in a mad rush, lowes has them in stock ,i see them every time i go there, at least the one i go to, and that’s suposed to be a smaller store, so,,,,,,,

Can you please recommend 4-5 USA made carpenter’s vise brands? Looking for a home work bench.
Go out and buy a cabinet for (and I have) $100.00 and save the wood for important things and also use that time to help others instead of leaving it to the government. Waste of time building something to show off things. Look, I’m not being a downer but i see people spending money on tools and big vacations and they then say I want free healthcare and they we have pay for their loneliness.
Thanks and God Bless
P.S. I used to do modeling and woodworking too and realized (and really think about it) that if I build a model a month for three years I will have at least 36 model’s around the house and the same for working with wood. How many things are you going to build (and waste time when you can be with and help others) that are going to be laying around the house. And if you work for 20 years, well.

Oh those highly affordable little bench vise are amazing quality for the price. They should be worth like $80! I just got mine last week and I was supremely impressed. I will be making a mini work bench that I can use on the floor or clamped to a bench top with that very vise. Very much recommended, you will not be disappointed.
An easier alternative would be to make the one hardwood insert L-shaped. mount the vice on the intact bench front. and fit the insert with the long vertical side in the vice and the shorter horizontal side over the top of the vice and back to the bench top. If you have one insert from a piece thicker than the other, by the thickness of the vice jaw. two saw cuts will make the necessary rebate, No chisel works needed, no cutout from the bench and a simple appearance. Just a suggestion.

I’m going to order one today! I don’t know if you will see this comment due to this being an older video, but could you go over how to tell the difference in different wood types. How you knew that was oak is a mystery to me.
A hand plane display cabinet would make for a terrific video tutorial!!!
I like the Vice set up.
Vise on vise on vise
Ahh yes , Columbian. A good ol American vise to work on your ak -47
I have three sets of IRWIN paddle bits for wood.
The oldest is the early 70s all still complete and for the most part still sharp.
I also have an IRWIN screwdriver about 16" long and has a wood handle attached to the bit of the driver. I have it all shined up and hanging on my sho wall.
I am in process of getting the wood workers vise now.
Using the info you gave me.

Suggestion: Make a video about the sequence of building up a man’s shop from scratch. Assuming you can’t go buy all your tools and products at once, what tools do you buy, in what sequences, that make some simpler items, which then in turn can be used to leverage useful combinations to enable the construction of the more elaborate shop items. So what it amounts to, is what items do you acquire, and in what sequence do you use them. Furthermore, what is a really great shop development sequence?
I personally like the Dawn vice because it’s made in Australia and they aren’t expensive
It’s 90 Euros un Eu… I am building one diy instead
