   Great recommendation! I’m also looking for a book that details all (or most) of the Stanley planes so that I can better determine if all of the parts on my 1920’s No 5 are original and not a "franken plane." I’m not quite sure how else to describe what I’m looking for but it would be similar to the coffee table book that I have that goes over different guitars over the years (something like +400 pages with detailed pictures) Great video as always!

   Well, I may pick it up, but hate buying from Amazon…. The problem I have with planes is how to get straight and square surfaces, and I have never seen that in any of the ‘how to’ videos. Being able to correct or hide mistakes is huge. Problems I am having, mostly getting one side square to the other. First it slopes one way, then I fix it and it slopes the other way, back and forth several times before getting it close. The other problem I had I figured out. I was getting a nice smooth crown/arch in the pieces. I was keeping pressure on the nose of the plane for the whole cut rather than just using nose pressure to start the cut and then switching to the back/handle part of the plane. Also, no need for the white knuckle death grip…

    I discovered this woodworking book more out of curiosity than utility, “pepe amazing plan” (Google it), and I happen to be amazed. It never disappointed me in my desire to acquire more information about the art of woodworking. A lot of topics were covered, including everything from wood types to developing your workshop.
