Woodworkers definitely get carpel tunnel. I framed houses for 15 years and then I started mechanic-ing on GE power gas turbines. I can’t hold a sander or other vibrating tool now for more than 15 minutes at a go. I’m 49.

  2. Walter Rider on January 10, 2022 at 11:09 pm

    thank you

  3. D Valley on January 10, 2022 at 11:09 pm

Sorry but Drew Fisher’s push stick is much better. It is very comfortable to use and keeps the hand higher up from the blade.

  4. Ragnar-The-Viking on January 10, 2022 at 11:10 pm

What is that super glue and accelerator again? thx man…

  5. marshallnmoonshine on January 10, 2022 at 11:10 pm

What are the holes for? Seems like something your fingers could be broken in if it kicks back.

  6. L Making on January 10, 2022 at 11:12 pm

These look super nice! I actually made some myself but I have a quick question for you. Why did you use Walnut instead of just some old scrap wood, for example pine?

  7. Matthew Babino on January 10, 2022 at 11:13 pm

I want that knife! Where did you get it?

  8. Micha on January 10, 2022 at 11:13 pm

First of all: I saw some of your videos and I really like them – so, really no offence. I’m doing woodwork as a hobby, so, I’m not the most experienced one on planet earth. Really: No offence planned. I recently hurt myself when using an improper push stick. I got kickback and the edge of the push stick rammed into my hand. I should have had some stitches, my doctor said when she saw the result. So when looking at your design I see three things I do not like/understand: 1) When using it "above" the wood your hand goes close to and over the blade. What would happen if your piece of wood slips away (any direction) by accident somehow? 2) Sharp edges when using it as push stick – that’s what caused my problem. 3) What happens if you use it as a push stick, your fingers through the holes and you experience severe kickback. Woudn’t they break?
After my incident (I always used the same type of push stick) I settled to the ones the officials in Germany recommend – why aren’t they popular with you guys? https://www.bghm.de/fileadmin/user_upload/Seminare/Holzbranche/TSM2/Zeichnung_Schiebestock_Foto%20.pdf

Don’t think I like those. Still nervous about my table saw though. Can I get an auto feed table saw with some bulletproof glass in a giant dome that comes down over the whole thing while I watch from a distance?

Using MY pushstick to make YOUR pushstick? It’s like pushstick inception.

  11. Patrick on January 10, 2022 at 11:18 pm

Wish i could afford to use walnut for a push stick. I keep what I do have in a safe deposit box at my bank

Is push stick/block shape just personal preference? Wondering if anyone has actual reasons for each feature and size of the tool that makes it the safest design for general work on ts.

2:51 JKM says I’m gonna get a weird hump AND forgets to tell me to keep my mind out of the gutter.

    Since I wasn’t reminded….

  16. Liam Shelley on January 10, 2022 at 11:21 pm

Have to say it doesn’t look particuarly comfortable to hold or apply downward pressure on. Feel like it needs a proper handle to grip.

  17. PrayYourGods on January 10, 2022 at 11:21 pm

I just realized, you are jimmy kimmel in disguise. Love your show. Great work. 🙂

  18. Steve Davis on January 10, 2022 at 11:24 pm

Cool vid, but I would have like to heard more about why this design is better than others. Like you don’t even seem to use the holes, so why are they there?

  19. Josh N on January 10, 2022 at 11:24 pm

I’ve never noticed creepy ol Danny Devito in the background, thats awesome

  20. Peter Neumann on January 10, 2022 at 11:27 pm

You could have saved people a lot of time by just showing a few seconds of video with more views of the plans. I too tried to download but not bothering wasting more time. I will ad hoc one though

    Why stop at 2? LOL

  23. Søren Hansen on January 10, 2022 at 11:29 pm

Dear Jonathan, why nails the are not need. If there’s no nails you can trim it off and set a new bottom and end to the pushstick just as Drew talk’d about with the "Fischer" pushstick. But a super idea, i will make some very soon and drop the old ones.
    Best regards from

Should we be concerned that Jonathan is sniffing glue?

  25. Gopher Woodshop on January 10, 2022 at 11:34 pm

Excellent, Sir I’ve been to darn lazy to make one of these now you’ve saved me the trouble, cheers.

  26. hokieinidaho on January 10, 2022 at 11:38 pm

Instead of gluing, double-sided tape, etc. I just take an awl and punch vertices/center-points, and then connect the dots with a straight edge.

  27. Steve Tignor on January 10, 2022 at 11:40 pm

How about another format to download? PDF?

  28. BMVLifestyle on January 10, 2022 at 11:41 pm

I like Fischers better. I do like the clamping potential with your 2 holes though.

  29. Luis Lira on January 10, 2022 at 11:41 pm

Nice set up Boss Hog. I like that you are using Drew Fisher from Fisher shop push stick. I’m slowly getting into wood work adding to my garage. Alright alright alright Katz-Daddy love the vids man lots of knowledge and that is power.

  30. Andrew Webb on January 10, 2022 at 11:42 pm

    Let’s make a push stick.
Step one- use a push stick to rip down to size 🤪

  31. Graham Wilson on January 10, 2022 at 11:42 pm

Hey Jon thans for the plans – downloaded them but cannot open them – extension is .rar and my mac cannot find an app to open the plans – any ideas please? Tks again

  32. JFKreations on January 10, 2022 at 11:44 pm

Love the design. Probably the best looking push stick on the internet. For the little cleat on the back end, instead of gluing it on, you could try a couple threaded inserts, a couple short pieces of all thread, a couple wing nuts and slotted holes on the cleat. That way you can slide it up when you don’t want the cleat, and slide it down when you do.

  33. ducatista1098s on January 10, 2022 at 11:44 pm

What are the holes for? degloving your fingers?

I have carpel tunnel and I’m just beginning my journey in woodworking

  38. Steve Smith on January 10, 2022 at 11:50 pm

Size always matters, we can’t all be lucky and have your size. Gotta keep those fingers away from the blade! Keep the bra content coming.

  39. Jon on January 10, 2022 at 11:51 pm

Could you just screw on the back piece that way as it gets beat up you can just replace it?

  40. Jim Campbell on January 10, 2022 at 11:52 pm

First, please do not take this as me being snarky. I am grateful that you at least thought of us out here in metric-land. But those are not metric plans.

For example, you have the two holes both ⌀31.75mm centred 24.94mm and 25.49mm from edges. I get that you would have two 1 1/4" holes each 1" from the edges. Just to take the holes, if I want to drill holes the exact same size as you, I can’t get a 31.75mm Forstner bit. To drill the exact same hole, I’d get a 1 1/4" bit! Using metric tools, I’d have a 30mm Forstner bit. And in fact I do.

Similarly, a metric plan would call for the holes to be centred 25mm from the edges.

My point is that there is more to making a ‘metric plan’ than putting all the dimensions through a calculator or computer programme.

Again, I’m not being snarky. I do appreciate your effort.

ps I’m loving my apron. I love the fit and the materials and I’m enjoying getting my ‘apron carry’ adjusted to the essentials.
