How much weight could this hold? I’m looking for a flip cart design for my machines – but my thicknesser is 38kg (83.6lbs) and my benchtop jointer is 28kg (61.6lbs).

I could use some help trying to find out if that miter saw dust extraction will work for DeWalt dws779. I’m pretty sure I look through your information but I didn’t see any particular link that showed me whether or not the dust extraction will work for the dws779. Can someone direct me to where I can get that link? I just bought one and I would be very interested in having much better desk collection. I have a teeny tiny shop when I have no place yet for me to have a devoted and dedicated miter saw station. Every tool has to be put away at the end of the day. My driveway is really my only Workshop.

The drawers with foam are the genius part of this build. Thanks!

    You always create great content!

I’m with Maggie. I hate picking up my 85 pound thickness planner. I’d like to do this but the only thing I can think of to put on the other side is my 4" belt sander and a bench grinder back-to-back to total 68 pounds. The planner is taller than the other tools, giving it even more leverage. Any suggestions?

  6. Jason McKenzie on December 28, 2022 at 1:35 am

Your shop is getting ridiculously organized and Color coordinated – thanks Maggie!

  7. Ray Fuentes on December 28, 2022 at 1:37 am

I made a FlipTop for my planer years ago. Pure rubbish compared to yours :-). I can’t emphasize enough the importance of weight and rigidity when building a flip-top. Lots of stresses when flipping a tool. Mine is ugly but solid as a rock. Always love your vids!! You’re a really, really smart man!!

  8. Kevin Glennon on December 28, 2022 at 1:39 am

Question Iz – did you put on locking casters or some other kind of wheel lock? I could see this getting away from me if I were sending a long piece of lumber through the planer all alone. Otherwise, as usual, it’s brilliant!

  9. The Dookster on December 28, 2022 at 1:40 am

I just bought that jointer 1 week ago and I thought there where 4 position in the blades as well. Sadly, you can only use 2 sides of it but it’s a beast of a little machine for the price

  10. CrisTooR on December 28, 2022 at 1:41 am

Is Izzy sitting in a wheelchair? @3:58 I don’t have a problem with it, I just didn’t know, or if it isn’t a wheelchair, was is it? And if it is a wheelchair, anybody knows what happened?

Very cool flip top I’ve been watching all the videos trying to get ideas to build one for myself love the idea of the draws in the top going to try to use that idea thanks for sharing. Always look forward to seeing what you guys do next

  17. Wittworks on December 28, 2022 at 1:51 am

Love the mic placement. And the contrast between jointers. 😂

  18. Island Charlie on December 28, 2022 at 1:52 am

Maggie did a great job explaining everything. Wow that Phantom is amazing looking.

  19. Roland Dean on December 28, 2022 at 1:52 am

That tool cart helps her because she’s just little. Love you people.

Is it stable to the vibration?

  22. Jonas on December 28, 2022 at 1:56 am

@ izzy Swan, What I like best about your videos(..since Maggie showed up..) is seeing how much she loves you. She always looks at you with so much adoration and love it is super skippy to see. It shows that you must be a truly good person. May you both be well!

  23. Jeff Benefield on December 28, 2022 at 1:57 am

Maggie, please speak more. Your voice is so much nicer than Izzys.. 🙂 Don’t be shy!

  24. James Williams on December 28, 2022 at 1:58 am

I’m tickled to see this project right now, because I’m planning a flip cart for my shop… I bought the Oliver planer about 6 months ago and it is an awesome tool, easily the best “lunchbox” planer out there! I was thinking of putting my bench grinder on the other side, but after watching this I’m seriously considering buying the Wen bench top jointer. Great content as usual, keep ‘‘em coming!

  25. thenarcotk on December 28, 2022 at 1:59 am

whats up with the volume at 8:30? I don’t mind the music but the large volume meant I had to scramble for the remote not to wake the family

  26. Ron Lueth on December 28, 2022 at 2:00 am

That planer looks just like the Dewalt 734 with the features and the carriage lock. I like my 734 a lot.

  27. mileshh515 on December 28, 2022 at 2:03 am

Holy smokes that jointer sneak peek

  28. Max Cavazos on December 28, 2022 at 2:04 am

Do you have a dust collection system for Dewalt Dws 780

  29. Ken Reynolds on December 28, 2022 at 2:05 am

I like the drawers. you need some gravity pins/latches so the upside down drawer doesn’t open and dump tools.

  30. Emperor Pawpateen on December 28, 2022 at 2:07 am

The shop cabinets look like Lowes and Home Depot are fighting for sponsorship. Lol

  31. Tioga Fretworks on December 28, 2022 at 2:07 am

Well, this is one of your projects that definitely deserves a plan or at least an exploded view or a SketchUP model so I hope you’ll reconsider. Secondly while the turntable is cool if space is *really* limited, I think I’d just make the whole thing a few inches wider so as to mount the planer in the other direction. Less complicated and looks like 24” vs 20” or whatever would do the trick. I have a good old DeWalt 735 which honestly has been kind of disappointing but it’s OK. The other side would get a WEN Oscillating sander that I never use but would if it was set up better. Thanks Izzy cool stuff as always.

  32. Erick Alpizar on December 28, 2022 at 2:08 am

Hi Izzy – I noticed the "3d printed duct-collection enhancement" for the Bosch miter saw… I NEED THIS SO BAD! Care to share where to find / download? Did I miss a video about it??? THANK YOU!!!

  33. Tom Collick on December 28, 2022 at 2:09 am

What application(s) do you use to design wood working projects?

  34. Jim H on December 28, 2022 at 2:12 am

Puts the other 437 flip-cart videos to shame. Nice job.

  35. Yehuda Boneh on December 28, 2022 at 2:12 am

You always bring your own little twist for familiar project that makes it special. like it

  36. glen74 on December 28, 2022 at 2:13 am

Travis over at Shop Nation also came out with an improved dust chute for Bosch miter saw as well. He has already created one for the Delta and is working on the Dewalt. Would be a interesting side by side and your thoughts Izzy.

  37. Anthony Gattuso on December 28, 2022 at 2:15 am

Izzy, thank you for all your great videos. This one is no exception. I have ‘what’s your opinion’ question.

I’m in the market for a planer and I was planning on a DeWalt DW735 with Shelix head upgrade. This is the second video I’ve seen now talking about the Oliver planer. Since it would be about the same cost, in your opinion, what’s the better option? Thanks

  38. Warren Werks on December 28, 2022 at 2:16 am

I’m not seeing the link for the miter saw dust collection port, any chance you could post it? Thanks!

  39. Shane OConnor on December 28, 2022 at 2:19 am

Greetings from Ireland. Great video, Your design is truly the best and it inspires me to make one. Did you make or purchase the swivel mechanism? just wondering how does the swivel mechanism keep the planner from falling off when inverted. Any words of wisdom would be much appreciated.

  40. cory barnes on December 28, 2022 at 2:20 am

Where do you get the planer quick connects?

  42. Scott Simpey on December 28, 2022 at 2:20 am

I’d be interested in seeing more of how you made the rotating top for your planer. I’ve been wanting to build a flip top tool stand for a number of years but haven’t gotten around to it ;partly because I need to do a deep cleaning of my shop but that’s a whole different story; but I really like the design of yours especially with the rotating side.

  43. Ian Pearse on December 28, 2022 at 2:22 am

El tuyo es un taller de LUJO, te lo pensaste todo y hay una GRAN INVERSION AHÍ 👍

  47. Carl Babel on December 28, 2022 at 2:27 am

You could use a ball bearing stop to keep the drawer from pulling out when it is upside down – like the 3D puzzles that will only open when the "proper" side is up:
    1) Drill a hole almost all the way through each face of the turn table,
    centered on the drawer,
half the distance of the thickness of the drawer front, from the edge.
The hole needs to be on the bottom table face, relative to the drawer, so the holes will be in opposing faces.
    2) Drill a very shallow hole in the matching location of the drawer face (on the bottom).
    3) Slide each drawer in face up (table flipped accordingly), but put the ball bearing in first.

  48. Ozwald Gardner on December 28, 2022 at 2:29 am

Your going to have to make a set of roller stands, so as the long stock comes out of the planer there are a couple of standing rollers on each side to help support the weight.

  49. Ray Driver on December 28, 2022 at 2:29 am

I know I’ve said it before but you are a very clever man. Stay safe, stay healthy and have a great Christmas 🌞
