    That thinner sheet material looks like something that we used to call ‘core board’: veneer + particle board + veneer.
    I have not seen it for sale for more than a decade (maybe two).

    An extremely cumbersome and dangerous jig. Anyone thinking of following this should think once again.

    That last jig…why not just make the spline cuts on the table saw instead? Seems much easier, quicker and more stable than that jig.

    Drawing a line through the complete length of anything when you are just going to run it through a table saw with a fence or cutting the length with a straight edge is just dumb… and a wast of time to do and to watch. Pointing to a place and then putting something there, odd….Wow, "assemble" and then you did it!!! No dust collection on the table saw???

    I’ve seen these before and they are great jigs especially the router jig very nice

    The insert piece would be much more effective to enforce the joint if the direction of the fibers were perpendicular to the edge.
