Things We Just Learned About The TV Show 'Cops'

Many of us can probably remember hearing “Bad boys, bad boys, whatcha gonna do? Whatcha gonna do when they come for you?” playing in the background at some point while Cops was on TV for more than 30 seasons. The reality show was the first of its kind and captured the attention of millions of viewers as it portrayed crimes across the US from a different point of view.

I think the bodycam channels on YouTubes absolutely obliterate COPS. They truly show how patient and genuine most officers are, and how things really look and go.

I was 10 or 11 and my little brother it was two or three I just have to take him outside to play with me every time I would go and all I would have to do is start singing The Bad Boys song and he would start crying and ask for mommy and I would have to bring him in every time and it was well over a year before my parents realize that I was so I’m making him cry
Less flattering truth about myself I like the way that on cops in Palm Springs
I never did anyone ever ask me to sign anything to release my image

One friend of mine was almost one of the cops in a Texas city. He said that most police work is boring and dull.

  11. Mindaro on July 25, 2023 at 3:01 pm

Why not eliminate police entirely…who needs them??? We got plenty of fine criminals to take good care of us, RIGHT??? How blind and stupid can we get?? Criticisms of police realities just get on my freaking nerves!!!

  12. Alejandro on July 25, 2023 at 3:02 pm

Here in Argentina we have our own version of Cops called "Policías en acción", or "Cops in action", it even has it’s own theme song.

  13. Bryan Schmidt on July 25, 2023 at 3:02 pm

I never liked or watched this show. Complete bullshit, a signal of the continued degradation of American society.

  14. Dorsey Hip-Hop Jewels on July 25, 2023 at 3:03 pm

I loved Cops back in the day, especially when Fox had it on at 8pm, right before America’s Most Wanted. That was a good night of TV. It’s common sense that they’re not going to show footage of a well being check or a missing person’s report. Nobody wants to see that. They want to see action and drama, just like with a scripted show. Tell us something we don’t already know. And yes stupid, there’s crime actually going on all the time, it just depends if someone reports it or sees it happening. So, that is realistic. Somewhere in America, crime is always taking place. Love the show, and I’m glad it’s back on.

Well dam you would think that the show would be dangerous because of the criminals but it’s dangerous because of the cops

  21. Michael Scott on July 25, 2023 at 3:11 pm

that show was a joke and every officer that was ever on the show should be compleatly barred from employment in any type of law enforcement

  22. Melissa Bolton on July 25, 2023 at 3:11 pm

My uncle was a police office and cops was filming in the area when the suspect started to flee and my uncle was coming down the road in his cop car and stopped to assist and wasn’t even supposed to be in the episode or filmed but he ended up making it threw editing and ending up being on an episode of cops!

  23. Joseph Ratliff on July 25, 2023 at 3:12 pm

@Weird History. To begin I want to say how much I enjoy your channel. You guys seem to have a knack for covering the sometimes obscure events of our past that often cause me to think "Yeah. I was always curious about circumstances concerning ( Blank Event). I have extensively fact checked lots of your content that I thought my be inaccurate and I have been wrong every time.
However, I take serious umbrage with the fact that you found it necessary to point out that the gun used in the robbery was fake. I didn’t care for the tone of the statement or the fact that it was preceded by the phrase "hall of bullets" A person was in the act of commuting a felony by representing the object in his hand as a deadly weapon and using that object to terrorize and extort money from what is probablty a highschool kid. Said individual than CHOSE to attempt to cause the police to fear for there life by further brandishing said object, Whether that object was a fully functional firearm is irrelevant. Much like a soldier in an urban battle field there is a half second to decide if your life is in danger and whether to use deadly force or not. I have owned and operated hundreds of guns over the last 50 years and I couldn’t tell that gun was fake. I not only had more time to look at it, but it wasn’t pointed at my head either. There was an episode on some Cop Drama years ago where the premise is a young detective is confronted by a man with a gun and the detective shoots and kills him. Later on a reporter of some sorts looks to cloud the legitimacy of the shooting after finding out the attackers gun was unloaded. Older detective pulls reporter into back room, points a revolver at his head. cocks the hammer and screams at reporter to decide right now if it loaded. Of course high drama ensues, older cop looks like a hero and trash reporter skulks away. I realize that this is a situation created on a Hollywood sound stage somewhere, But it lent very credible visual evidence that the functionality of a brandished weapon Is absolutely irrelevant. You guys are better than this,

Never watched it tbh since it`s "Reality TV". What do people expect, reality, much less facts? That would be like calling the show in which the orange abomination starred in a true to life documentary. I`ll never understand why people choose to view garbage like that, instead of old sitcoms or the like which clearly are fiction, but at least they don`t make it out to be anything else. Or better yet, a true documentary which conveys facts as well as insights, heightening peoples`awarement on how the world really is like.

  25. Tenacious D Lee on July 25, 2023 at 3:13 pm

That show proves to the world that in America the poor get treated like crap by the police, thrown in prison with killers and gang members and the like just for having a small amount of weed which is barely even a drug, and OTT physically brutalised for really no good reason.

  26. ZT on July 25, 2023 at 3:14 pm

We learned that the average cop is a high school dropout, clueless about the law and has a very huge ego.

  27. Brue Hoyt on July 25, 2023 at 3:15 pm

they showed traffic stops that resulted in arrests, people ran from the police, they focused on guns, drugs and prostitution. SHOCKER! This is not promoting a false view policing. This is showing the newsworthy events. Did the nightly newsier show story about a guy getting pulled over for speeding, given a warning and went on his way? If people watch show like this and live in reality think they have a 72% chance of getting arrested, it is because they are delusional involved in crime.

  28. Randi on July 25, 2023 at 3:15 pm

Police work is typically pretty mundane and use of force is uncommon in perspective of how many police interactions with the public there are. It’s why the whole ‘they’re trying to kill us’ narrative of the blm stuff is hyperbolic. We’d be tripping over bodies if police were trying to gun down any particular segment of our population. Just watch Live PD or On Patrol and you’ll see it’s a lot of ordinary traffic stops.. often with a lot of weirdos. There’s nothing misleading about Cops. If people think they don’t cherry pick the entertaining segments from mundane speeding tickets they aren’t very bright.

2% ends up arresting someone? in Europe it is more likely 0,02%…

When COPS went Slow-maha (Omaha) the camera man was shot and killed at a Wendy’s robbery on Dodge street. It was very sad and unfortunate. I was living in the area when it happened. I think the perp was from Ohio or something.

    "All that Spokane action"

That sarcastic delivery is a dead giveaway whoever wrote this has never set foot in Spokane. We’re talking the postindustrial meth hub of the inland northwest combined with Spokane cops, who, well… they’re cops and it’s Spokane.

https://youtu.be/biBC7ziPqOc that what happened to me when I refused to sign Thier damn waiver. John Langley promised not to film us. He even had the camera under his arm. After 45 minutes h asks me for my signature I said for what I thought you were not filming!. So he turns to the cops telling them they don’t get to be on tv. They were furious. When they asked him why, he points at me and says" cuz he won’t sign the paper and he’s in every single shot. I had only stopped on my way to work to save the life of a stabbing victim. Within 48 hours I lost everything I owned both my jobs was evicted cars impounded. I had a cinder blocks CJ thrown through my bedroom window the next morning while I spoke with my landlord about a water leak she claims I called her about. I’ve been arrested 41 times now been stopped and frisked 6112 times. F__k John Langley and Malcom barbour. They took my life 21 years ago and im still unable to even get a driver’s license back despite 14 Trips to bullhead city courts and paying $21,000+ in fines. My original citation $40.

Cops was a once in a lifetime thing and it was a great show. Too bad the sjws got to it like they eventually get to everything

  43. Rude Pickle on July 25, 2023 at 3:30 pm

There’s tons of issues in the show where people’s rights were violated that I’m amazed didn’t shut the show down. I wonder how many people were paid because of their own video footage through lawsuits

  44. jlovebirch on July 25, 2023 at 3:35 pm

The same cancellation happened to the highly rated Live PD in 2020 — which is now back on Reelz as On Patrol: Live (along with reruns of COPS). Who wants to pay extra for Fox Nation?

  45. DigitalShark99 on July 25, 2023 at 3:36 pm

Yeah, I wanna watch 30 minutes of cops eating donuts and writing paperwork. *SARCASM* — This video is pointless.
