In this week’s video, I show you the latest addition to my tool arsenal. The most versatile and now, the most used tool that I own. The Apron Plane by Veritas makes short work of small jobs and even some bigger jobs.
I’ll take you through all the features and uses for this multi-tasking hand plane. It falls somewhere between a small smoothing plane and a top notch block plane. Jobs like edge jointing, surface planing, joinery prep and chamfers can all be done with this powerful little woodworker’s plane.

Agreed Eric, I own a Veritas plane & the quality is fantastic for sure. Hopefully, you will be getting a call from them in the near future……. 👍👍😉😉
If you carry a pocket plane instead of a pocket knife, you might be a woodworker…
That’s a very cool little tool! I’ll have to buy one for my shop!
Favirite tool?
I like my planes too, but I’d say electric drills and screw drivers are at the top of my list. Drilling and driving screws by hand gets old fast. Especially the newer lithium & brushless motors I think are the first tool someone should get.
Which blade did you get?
Do you have a link where to buy these?
Very nice Eric, but perhaps a little pricey for me – Lee Valley Tools are selling it ‘from $99` so for me living over in France it would be out of the question. Excellent review, I really would like one of these.
I’m just trying to learn planing. This video helps.
I don’t know if you saw this, but YouTube is no longer sending email notifications to subscribers, which is a shame, because I usually went straight to your videos when notified.
Nice!
It’s fun when you find something that really clicks with how you work. Myself I’ve had this plane for about two years and I can’t say that I have used it much. I remember really wanting it but it hasn’t been used much. If I were to buy again I would probably choose a similar one with an adjustable mouth or more probably the small Veritas skew plane which you can put a fence on but that can also be used pretty much like this one I think.
amazing
