This is a really simple project you can make in a few hours. I love having the handle on a step stool. It really makes it easy to move around and gives you added stability when climbing on. Especially useful for people with limited mobility. More on this project and free plans:

Hey you guys and your PINK crap… If you were as secure in your sexuality a Steve (and I) you would handle it better. Look past the color… it’s a GREAT project. Guess you could paint yours camo but then, how the hell would you find it when you need it? Enjoy your day girls……

Made this stool.. Pretty simple. Isn’t as sturdy as I would have liked as the legs seem to shift back and forth slightly. Any suggestions on making it a bit more sturdy?

  4. Walter Triest on March 20, 2022 at 5:45 pm

As always another great video.  This is a very useful project.  I really enjoy your stuff.  One question.  Where can I get one of the glue bottles you use in this video?  Thanks in advance.

Why trying to make a square tenon instead of a round corner one ?

  12. AndyB on March 20, 2022 at 5:50 pm

How can 26 people give a step stool a thumbs down?!?  Cause it’s pink?  🙂

  13. Maxi DaHood on March 20, 2022 at 5:51 pm

what kind of spray are you using to temporary """glue""" the sheets with zhe plans on your wood?

  14. Jo Jones on March 20, 2022 at 5:52 pm

Steve, why pink? I mean PINK! It’s a great project which I may well replicate, so thank-you for that? But please, no more pink. I’m that seeming rarity, a woman who likes woodwork and woodturning but I HATE pink!!
    Sorry, I feel better now.
    Take care,
    Jo

    Hi Steve,
I have been looking all over different wood working channels, but could not find a guide to
    1. Different Types of Natural and Synthetic woord
    2. What types of wood are best suited for what type of job.
    3. What type of woods are worse for what types of job.

If you sould do such a video I will be very very grateful to you for this.

Many thanks already for this marvellous channel.

‘Square this up with a jig saw’.
I feel like that’s an oxymoron.

  17. beartechdeck on March 20, 2022 at 5:54 pm

I failed with pocket holes. I also failed when I made a stool and broke it the first time I used it

  18. Dave Starr on March 20, 2022 at 5:55 pm

Really love this channel, I’m learning tons. However, one thing that I’m not very fond of is how often he uses pocket screws after getting that jig of his. I’m sure if I ever got one, I’d find it a thousand kinds of useful, as well, but I’d still like to learn more about how to similarly join wood without screws.

  19. Rob Feldkamp on March 20, 2022 at 5:57 pm

my wood failed once or twice..

  20. Spektrum on March 20, 2022 at 5:57 pm

Sitting on the stool like a chair was awesome lol. Pretty funny 🙂

  21. DoingItCheap on March 20, 2022 at 5:59 pm

Is there a reason the pocket screw holes are on opposite sides of the stretcher?  Strength?  Resistance to twisting?  Thanks….  Love all your videos.

is it oil paint or some other kind of paint
and do u apply some kind of primer before applying the paint

  25. Eugen Ion on March 20, 2022 at 6:09 pm

i hate pocket screws….everybody will forget how to make a join without screws…. like your work anyway

  27. SRF Woodworks on March 20, 2022 at 6:12 pm

I’m still new in woodworking my first project was your simple crate, everything as going along fine until I did not pay attention to spacing out the bottom, I was gluing an screwing lol) then I ran out of boards wondered what happened rewatched you video and oops It still works as I cut an placed a piece of plywood on bottom, that was all I had one hand at the time.

I have spent months studying starting up a woodworking business and discovered a fantastic website at Enata Wood System (look it up on google)

  32. plum on March 20, 2022 at 6:19 pm

My woodworking fail: it was the end of my senior year in high school and I wanted to make a wine stand for my aunt who really, r e a l l y loves wine. It was a board with a 45° angled hole at the top and another 45° angle taper at the bottom. It ended up never working no matter how hard I tried. I wanna revisit this, though. I think I need a thicker board. Angles and physics was never my thing.

  46. Zachery Livingston on March 20, 2022 at 6:35 pm

You made this on my bday

  47. TheBloke on March 20, 2022 at 6:36 pm

Thanks so much for your videos, Steve. Love your work and your style.
Quick question, if anyone still reads these old video comments: what’s the advantage of the band saw over a jigsaw? You use both in this video – the band saw to cut out the template and then the jigsaw for the smaller holes. Am I right that the band saw is basically just a fixed-in-place jigsaw? Ie, a band saw is to a jigsaw as a drill press is to a drill?
Or are there other differences past that? Could I do everything with a jigsaw that you do with the band saw, just maybe not as easily on large(r) cuts? Thanks again!

  48. Chaitanya Vedak on March 20, 2022 at 6:37 pm

    nice choice of Color.. :p

  49. Matt Johnston on March 20, 2022 at 6:40 pm

After watching a few videos using it, I’m thinking it’s time I search out a pocket screw jig. Any recommendations on a good one?
