I was over at my friends house and came across a rusted out block plane. Seeing such a high quality woodworking tool in this condition, I told him that I would do what I could to restore it.

This restoration project brought a lot of satisfaction. The end result is a pristine, good as new, fully restored beautiful woodworking tool – Enjoy!

HELL NO…Don’t give it back to him.

  2. Piperalpha81 on May 7, 2022 at 7:04 pm

Vacuum seal it and give it back. If your friend leaves it outside again it won’t need a restoration

  3. Captain Sodium on May 7, 2022 at 7:04 pm

You absolutely do NOT give that back! The utter disrespect to such a beautiful tool in the first place, is punishable by extreme scrotul stretching, stretching of the bean bag if you will. You should keep it, and remind your “buddy” what a dick he/she is on a daily basis. Also, you should pick better friends. Lol

  4. U.SonomaBeach on May 7, 2022 at 7:08 pm

You should be ashamed having a friend like that! Jk lol. But seriously, he needs a come to Jesus talk or something because that is a sin what he did to that holy relic

  5. Steve Adkisson on May 7, 2022 at 7:08 pm

He does not deserve such a tool… sorry he is unworthy. My grandad used to say you can tell a lot about a man by how he cares for his tools……..just saying

  6. K. S. on May 7, 2022 at 7:09 pm

your kid left it in the grass outside?

  7. Stephen Berry on May 7, 2022 at 7:11 pm

  8. Andrew Jakakas on May 7, 2022 at 7:12 pm

  9. Alexander Messier on May 7, 2022 at 7:12 pm

    Its his plane.

  10. keir farnum on May 7, 2022 at 7:13 pm

Wow! I expected it to be an old Stanley; not a Lie Nielsen! How could someone allow that to happen?

  11. Phil Edgerton on May 7, 2022 at 7:13 pm

    It’s yours now.

  12. Joshua Spell on May 7, 2022 at 7:14 pm

This would have been believable if it wasn’t literally at least the 10th "restoration" of the same sort of tool that I’ve seen in the last year. Good effort though!

  13. Jerry Rathbone on May 7, 2022 at 7:15 pm

    Beautiful job

  14. Greg McDonald on May 7, 2022 at 7:18 pm

There is no way I would give that plane back. Obviously your friend does not take care of a fine tool like that and he will never miss it.

  15. robin alexander on May 7, 2022 at 7:18 pm

Some people just don’t understand the importance of a good tool.

  16. Robert Black on May 7, 2022 at 7:22 pm

    Tools are so damn expensive

  17. Tony Tunnell on May 7, 2022 at 7:23 pm

I think you got your uses out of it .You had showing that things that can be apparently discarded can be restored, it’s something to think about, that was what Jesus talked about Bunches of times. I’m no perfect highfalutin Christian ,but I find solace in the restoration. As far as the great samurais go I believe it was their duty to teach as well as to protect and Salvage and restore there’s great honor in the restoration. So your friend how you restored it and to take care of it .Real friends are eternal and priceless.

  23. Jason Weaver on May 7, 2022 at 7:27 pm

Absolutely not he apparently has no reason for such a beautiful tool or it wouldn’t have been in the shape you found it in. Awesome job on the restoration I’m currently restoring and old Stanley bailey #4

  26. Michael Smith on May 7, 2022 at 7:29 pm

If your friend can’t treat his tools any better than that, he doesn’t deserve it back.

Great job! Finished product looks amazing!

You have the coolest sharpening station. Made it yourself?

What was the liquid you use to remove the rust? I have hard time making it out with my poor hearing. Thank you!

If you’re a good friend, you give it back. If they’re a good friend, they insist you keep it.

The Horror! Fix it Samurai, fix it!!!!

  40. Damian N on May 7, 2022 at 7:52 pm

You should have bought the rusted block plane off him so that you didnt have to give it back to him. Its a win win situation.

  41. Richard lane on May 7, 2022 at 7:55 pm

I wouIdn’t be thinking about giving it back to my friend after the way he’s treated it. I wouId consider not being friends with someone that careIess.

    Nicely done

    solutuion links please – thanks

  44. Michelle k on May 7, 2022 at 7:57 pm

So unfair. I’d give anything to be able to own such a beautiful plane and someone that can afford one just lets it rot!

  45. 8Greendog on May 7, 2022 at 7:58 pm

Ha-ha-ha.

  46. Latemcire on May 7, 2022 at 7:59 pm

It started out as a really nice plane. If he didn’t respect it then than he won’t respect all the work you put into it. I once carved an S hook from a piece of firewood while camping with friends and my friends wife threw it into the fire. Some just people don’t get it.

  47. Chris K on May 7, 2022 at 7:59 pm

i just picked up a Lie Nielsen plane almost exactly like that one on my trip to maine last year. Mine is almost entirely that brass/bronze though. Beautiful tool! I’m glad you were able to breathe life back into this one!!

  48. Q.C. on May 7, 2022 at 8:00 pm

What was the solution that you used?

  49. Eka Brown on May 7, 2022 at 8:00 pm

Just buy him a cheaper block plane as he obviously does not appreciate quality tools.

  50. Robert Black on May 7, 2022 at 8:02 pm

Jess, did you ever give it back. I gotta know.
