Unboxing Bridge City Tools HP 9 Block Plane & Overview

I treated myself and bought the HP-9 Dual Angle Block Plane by Bridge City Tool Works. This thing is literally a work of mechanical art, and it has given me tons of inspiration since first discovering it and obsessing over it. I’m a sucker for mechanical design and this thing is full of it.

Since it is a prohibitively expensive and a fairly unique item, I thought an unboxing video would be nice for you to experience something that one might not normally get to. I’m still trying to find my camera voice, but I think it’s improving, so sorry if it gets too cringy at some points 🙂

Enjoy!

Had an add come up on Facebook. Looked at them, and had to go look for reviews.
What an absolutely beautiful plane. I couldn’t believe when you said, you probably wouldn’t use it, lol.
It would kill me to have one, and then not use it. The joy for me, would be in using it.
I’m happy for you, and if it inspires you, then that’s a good thing.

For such a beautiful, and beautifully designed tool, it hurts that you don’t plan to use it, as I can only imagine that’s where it’s true beauty lies.

Looks pretty cool…. I have one of those and the larger one on order since they just had a limited release sale. I actually do plan to use them. 😀

The company recently switched their manufacturing to China, but it is supposed to be the same quality.

Seems like you didn’t see any problems.
