It’s sad that we can’t even jump on what seems to be a good deal because it’s yet another scam. I am so disappointed in the human race at times. Just work for what you want and be a decent person. Don’t even need a god to tell you these basic rules to live by.

Looks like the latest version of these Scammer/Spammers is Stodoys.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts on Teds! I was thinking about trying it out just for shits and grins but will not be doing it now. I’ll help spread the word on them every chance I get.

  4. Salty Creole on May 25, 2023 at 11:31 am

Ok. What do you suggest? I came this close to buying Ted’s for my 19 yr old daughter. WHAT SHOULD I DO PRAY TELL? Thanks.

  5. John David on May 25, 2023 at 11:31 am

So…woodworking’s version of a life time achievement award. Given to himself…by himself. Hmm.

  6. Craig Smith on May 25, 2023 at 11:31 am

I almost fell for this scam. But my spider sense told me there was something wrong, too much hype & outlandish claims. Too good to be true I thought. I find many just like this on Facebook, they seem to be just a reworked & renamed version. If you see them on FB, you should repeatedly flag them, as I can’t accuse them, cause they haven’t stolen anything from me yet.
Can you woodworking guys get together & put together a list somewhere where all the reputable ones are listed?
And maybe while you are all together, decide to report him or them, to the social media sites every time he pops up? I don’t want to be buying stolen plans that someone else worked hard to make.

  11. MFCP Woodworking on May 25, 2023 at 11:37 am

I wish they would leave my video’s alone. Seems their comments hitting my videos hurts me in the algorithms and reduces how much attention they get. Not sure why. I’m trying word blocking them in my settings. Not sure whether it’ll help.

  12. Skysearch on May 25, 2023 at 11:39 am

Thank you so much for having gone to the trouble, years ago, of posting the warning about Ted’s, et al….I was just about to check out Woodglut. Loved your interesting bits and pieces, and humor!

They still are doing it to this day on Facebook
    And sending emails

Revisiting your video on Ted’s woodworking Scams and a commercial on YouTube followed for Walt’s woodworking with 150 free plans followed. It felt like Ted changed his name to Walt to continue the same SCAM. The vermin seem to be still surviving and trying to work off of you.

Miss behind the sawdust, so I came back and I’m watching old ones.

So then, what is NOT a ripoff? Where can a beginner go/look to improve his woodworking skills for rovers/table saws/scrolling, etc etc etc? Thanks

Did I miss something. Ya’ll need to do more of these "news spots". Was this a one off video?

  26. Thomas Ehrler on May 25, 2023 at 11:56 am

This is the fist time I’ve ever heard of Ted’s being illegitimate. I will be sure to pass the word around. To be honest I came close to buying his stuff. I will now search elsewhere. Thanks for the heads up.

  27. Clay T. Enos on May 25, 2023 at 11:56 am

Right on about Ted’s wood working scam. I got suckered into that a couple of years ago. One of the 1st things I stumbled on was a plan for a small corner desk I had built from a wood working article in a magazine in the late 70’s. I never did get the refund I was promised.

  28. D M on May 25, 2023 at 11:56 am

Shorter episodes are the way to go. Often times many people are hesitant to click on a 20-30 minute video, even if they’re going to watch 4 consecutive 12 minutes videos. It’s just a funny way the mind works. They feel it’s less of a commitment; regardless if they’re ultimately going to commit even more time than the video’s actual length.

  29. Road King on May 25, 2023 at 11:57 am

Thanks for the heads-up on Ted’s. I was looking at it.
I am wondering if you can suggest a good source for plans. TIA

  30. Tony Garcia on May 25, 2023 at 11:57 am

Great information. I watch your show often and I learn a lot. Can you recommend me some legit places to get plans, even if I have to pay for them? Thanks Stumpy.

  31. JAZZ MAN on May 25, 2023 at 11:58 am

The link in the description of one of their channels takes you to a site that wants your email address. Yeah, I don’t think so! Imagine the number of phishing emails you’re liable to get? Nowadays, it pays to be suspicious while on the internet.

  32. Terry Mason on May 25, 2023 at 11:58 am

I know this is an old video but it just pooped up on my feed. Absolutely beautiful 👍 The crazy hardware guys stuffing their pockets with muffins, in Ohio, had me rolling!

  35. Jerry Nix on May 25, 2023 at 12:02 pm

Thank you for the heads up on the Teds scam I was going to buy it, i’m new to woodworking and thought it sounded like a great deal but i was going to research it first for sure.

  36. Denise Davidson on May 25, 2023 at 12:02 pm

Whatever you do do not order this I ordered it for my husband for his birthday what a hoax I got a DVD one DVD and all it did was give me instructions on how to buy other DVDs it had no woodworking plans in it it was a big hoax do not waste your money unfortunately I spent all the money I had to get my husband‘s birthday present on this so I could not buy him anything and I sure as hell wasn’t giving him that what a joke!!!

  37. J Elmo on May 25, 2023 at 12:02 pm

Thumbs up on your new format and content. You might say you “hit the nail on the head”!

  38. Nancy Phillips on May 25, 2023 at 12:03 pm

I like the shorts and I like the long version. Either way I listen to all you produce. Thank you!

  39. SirVoxalot on May 25, 2023 at 12:09 pm

Lol the ad YouTube put at the bottom ad space is for Ted Woodworking.

  40. Phillip Fonville on May 25, 2023 at 12:11 pm

I wish I had seen this video before I purchased Ted’s Woodworking plans a few years ago.

  41. Steven Cook on May 25, 2023 at 12:12 pm

Ok I just tried to report these creeps. OMG its impossible. The main site is from out of the US and the site has no way to report them. They are using 3 redirects to throw off 1st level techs and you can never ever get them to see what is really going on. GoDaddy is a joke as they will not investigate them because they do not own the page. however they own the domain that is being used. There is a free for all for crooks on the net now and what is Biden and others doing about it? NOT A DAMN THING. just like those scamming calls coming from India!

  42. tommc49 on May 25, 2023 at 12:12 pm

Have to admit, I fell for this one a couple years ago. I think it was a download, not a DVD. It contained a number of zip files, loosely categorized; outdoor furniture, cabinets., etc. Each zip contained a number of PDF files with ambiguous names such that you had to open each one to see what it was. Some were so poorly scanned, the measurements were unreadable. After about 20 minutes of looking for something interesting, I deleted the download. It’s not even worth the effort if it’s free.

  43. martino amello on May 25, 2023 at 12:12 pm

I recognized the Ted thing years ago from my former life as someone who tried to make a living with MLM before I knew any better.. It screams multi level marketing scam… Get the justice department involved.. They like putting scammers in jail from time to time..

  44. Grumpy Old Sod In a Cellar on May 25, 2023 at 12:13 pm

No sooner had I watched this than Ted’s "plans" came up as an ad on YouTube, before it could end with "credit card details and phone number" the ad cut out. Let’s hope that wasn’t an accident.

  45. Paul Aaron on May 25, 2023 at 12:13 pm

You guys are over the top. Interesting topics, but I’m just an ordinary wood worker. Gluing, sanding, putty, spraying, ect., just making old into new or creating something from scratch for over 40 years.

  46. Keith Osburn on May 25, 2023 at 12:14 pm

I appreciate this video a lot, I was about to subscribe to Teds.

  47. capnbobretired on May 25, 2023 at 12:15 pm

TY for posting about Ted. I would have lead with that story first. People like Ted are a bane to the internet. I salute you for making a call to arms to post true information online about what Ted is selling and what his minions are doing with their posts on woodworking sites.

  48. Dallas Tucker on May 25, 2023 at 12:15 pm

Shorts are fine over the summer when it’s beach weather, but for the long winter … go back to the long ones.

  49. The Piqued Pigeon on May 25, 2023 at 12:17 pm

"Those 16000 projects were stolen from other people"

This is EXACTLY what I suspected when I started seeing posts recommending these collections on Instagram. No matter how creative someone is, how can anyone come up with SIXTEEN THOUSANDS different plans???? It is simply not possible, either they are a few plans repeated with minor changes, or they are stolen content. Best thing I can do now is flag the posts that promote this scam and unfollow their respective accounts!!

  50. Edwin Leach on May 25, 2023 at 12:17 pm

The Feds should be alerted to this. They would go after them in court.
