When 89° Won't Cut It: 1281 Precision Woodworking Square
Patrick Melchior from Dragonfly Woodworking explains how the Woodpeckers 1281 Square has helped keep his projects accurate from start to finish. Order the 1281 Square here: http://www.woodpeck.com/1281.html
Woodpeckers tools are absolutely the finest! Worth every penny!!
USERS BEWARE! The inside and outside markings of the blade are NOT IN SYNC! I discovered this the hard way mid-project. They are out by 1/32" on one side, less on the other. The official Woodpecker response through Chris N was: That is not a defect in the tool. Each side of the blade is independent from the other side. The inside measurement references off of the aluminum cheeks of the tool and the outside references off of the sole/bottom of the blade and cheeks. All of our squares are like that. <<< To that I say Poppycock. That is a bad design, and it cost me in my project. Also, if that were intentional, why isn’t it the same on both (flat) sides of the blade? This is as of 5-28-2021.

ORIGINAL: I personally like it for its feedback and knowing it is my reference tool. I check every square two ways: against this tool, and again with back-to-back scribe lines. I’m also learning to LOVE the DelVe SS little one, and the small Saddle square. My first WP was that tiny 1” square. I love that one too.
His aprons are fantastic… Patrick is rocking it.
