Who is Bourbon Moth? Woodworking as a Job
“BOURBON MOTH WOODWORKING IS ABOUT MORE THAN JUST AN INDIVIDUAL PIECE OR STYLE, IT’S ABOUT TAKING SOMETHING ORGANIC AND NATURAL AND RESHAPING IT, GIVING IT A PURPOSE AND PLACE IN YOUR HOME AND DAY TO DAY LIFE.
My main goal is to build awesome stuff and share those builds with as many people as I can. If I can do that without being boring and hard to listen to thats a bonus.
I have been fascinated with building things by hand from a very young age. In a world consumed by mass-production, there is something so gratifying in the slow and meticulous process of creating a unique piece from start to finish” (excerpt from bourbonmoth.com).
This video explores the current life of Jason Hibbs otherwise known as “Bourbon Moth” in his career of custom woodworking turned into a full time commitment to content creating.

jason <–>jason nice to meet ya and keep up the good work!
I was in the floor watching him drive his c19 tank, LOL HA HA HA!
Thanks for your inspirational videos, you are truly a gifted person and very cool woodworker. I learn a lot from your videos. Just a rank ameturer here.
After making Shaker furniture for the past 33 yrs, the company closed and I moved on to a career in the health industry. Watching your videos and how you work just brings it all back for me; makes me want to make furniture again. I’m a fan! Keep the videos rolling 😀
This guy is intoxicatingly HILARIOUS! He reminds me of the good ole East TN boys in my area. Gotta sub to his channel after finishing the documentary. Thank you!
Couldn’t agree more on those awful river tables….
Love this series so much!!
BMoth is one of the channels that I appreciate most and go to for content. You obviously have great woodworking skills. Far more than even what you talk about.
This video makes it even better. (Thank you Mabie?) I like that it all started to some extent in a camp. Very wise to make the move.
As you and your family consider the future, I’d encourage you to think more about camps. Kids need an opportunity to do and make stuff, whether that be a t-shirt, boat (Have you seen mouseboats?), or something out of wood. So many options, and I’m certain many would love to come alongside. I love rivers and volunteer a week of my summer each non pandemic crazed year to take a group of teens on an overnight camping trip down a “wilderness” river. It’s transformative for them. Your personality has even greater potential, and you’ve already created a fabulous platform for showing it.
I smashed the like, Jason is great!,
Important questions you forgot to ask:
What’s up with the weird name of your channel?
Why do you have black throat-lozenges stuck to your ears?
I have done many things, bicycling, woodworking, Boy Scout Leader as hobbies. I create software to pay the bills. I love it all. If I don’t notice the time or that I am hungry or realistically anything else I am in the right place. I love your content because you just do stuff. You show that the best practice isn’t necessary (panel glue ups without biscuits, dominoes or dowels). Truthfully when in 1 thou important? When you want a piston fit drawer not on a table 10” or so off the floor. Thanks for the great content. Entertaining and instructional. I love the start video antics and the Bourbon Moth theme music just as much as router the circle one, rough cut with the jigsaw then flush time. You freaking rock!
Great Show , Great family..
Ill never understand people that go out of their way to poopoo on river tables, or any other form of creation. Its all art.
Balvenie very good choice!
funny guy I really respect the way he aproaches it all
Great job at life! Much respect for accomplishing your hearts desires! Few get to do this. You’re a great woodworker, one with the highest of standards, excellent execution, and plenty of wisdom gleaned by others. In the end, your work shows itself as it is. Top quality and shinning with care and integrity! Mail my 20.00 to… lolol
Im grateful to have come across your channel. You’re far beyond what I first thought when I saw one of your projects for the first time. Hoards of talent! I love seeing people succeed at woodworking! I’m on the same journey myself. Thanks for bringing your abilities and excellence to those out in the YouTube world! I’m very appreciative for all your work.
Much love, much respect, 66carpenter
Totally agree about river tables its a fad and in future will see them on the side of the road
By far, the best woodworker on you tube. I’ve been a concrete finisher for 30 plus yrs.now.but I started out making bird houses.and I really enjoyed it. So I bought a bunch of tools and here I am a few years later making tables, benches and cutting boards.but to be perfectly honest, I suck. But I have learned alot from your content. Keep up the good work, Jason.
You are a great inspiration Jason
I’ve only seen 2 river flow tables that were even able to say Huh. Great job, glad I decided to watch.
I was a subscriber, I became a fan…
I happen to live his videos. I also think it’s hilarious that someone with gauges (that he removed) is bashing river tables saying they won’t last 10 years and will question “what the he’ll were we thinking”. Not sure but I suspect he would agree.
How do I get one of those Burbon Moth t-shirts with the severed finger?
That is an amazing story, And love watching.
I love this guy. But we can also describe drinking whiskey as Pouring Liquid into a Big Hole 😃
Congrats man that’s awesome!!!
I am a big fan of you and your channel — and I love your story. I enjoy watching your videos, I like your sense of humor, and I love your outlook on life. I live in Japan and have recently bought a house in Phoenix, Arizona where my wife and I will one day. settle down. I watch your channel almost every day, and I just want to thank you for everything that you do because your love for building has helped me with working around my new house. My next adventure is building an outdoor cooking counter with a few burners, a mini refrigerator, and a built-in Traeger smoker because sometimes my wife don’t like what I cook in her kitchen. Keep doing what you’re doing and Blessings to you and your family!
Are you viking descendant??
Love this guy
Hahahahahahaha Take the Impala, to the dentist he needs dentures. H. Jason, %99.99999999999 of us on Youtube, support you love you! your work humor, and everything you do. Cheers man be kine to the family from Tucson Arizona.
I absolutely loved this video! Thank you for sharing your story.
I’m new to woodworking and am having some problems getting the tools can you give me some ideas .
As a wood worker I find bourbon moth a breath of fresh air.
He’s the Bob Ross of Woodworking. So soothing and enjoyable to watch and listen to.
not to be rude but i have never seen you without a hat just wondering if you have any hair
Danke!
one of my top 2 woodworker on youtube ….for is content and funny style jason is a real entertainer
Just came across your channel! I love it. I’m a 68 year old corporate thug needing to work with his hands. Is it too late to learn?
I want the specs for the tank!! Haha. Love your work bro. I am in the process of getting started now that we have our house built and all that good stuff. So looking forward to all the things I can learn and get into. Seriously though, I wanna build the mower tank…. 😀
I’m 41 years old, but I want to be this guy when I grow up. However, unlike all the other dreams that I got sidetracked along the way (death metal drummer, financial analyst, electrical engineer), I’m pretty confident I will finally do this one.
Hi Jason. I think you are a star. You have given me so many ideas for the house I intend to acquire. For years I’ve wanted to build my own furniture, but never had the need.
Now I would like to give you a challenge. How do you like the idea of building your own aeroplane. You have the talent to do it. Would you beleive it a wooden aircraft generally gives much less grief than a metal one. You live in the part of the world where the home built aircrafts flurish. America is the world’s leader for home builders.
So just for the funnies, give it a go.
Thanks for a most informative and entaining series about woodworking.
I like some River tables. I think some people’s epoxy work is amazing
This guys pretty awesome kinda jealous he can just build things and be so close to home. But good for you Jason living the dream bro.
I never miss one of Jason’s videos. He is very humorous, inspiring and one hell of a woodworker!!
I have been watching jasons videos for a year or more.. what a great video you did on him..
Been watching your channel for a while. I like your mix of smart assery and fine woodworking. Had no idea you were just right down the road (I5) from me (Olympia.) I actually bought and picked up my phase convertor in your neck of the woods at Croman Converters in Yamhill, Oregon. Don’t you just love the name of that town? Yamhill. Evokes all kinds of images. Anywho. Keep up the good work!
Man your a talented dude ! I’m from Ottawa Ontario. Been woodworking as a hobby for 20 years ! No more like 40. Lol
Been watching your channel for the last year or so. I’m in Florida for 2 months riding my new Harley and came across a little bar that made me my first old fashion whiskey. I’m hooked ! You have to try Forty Creek copper pot whiskey. Hand made Canadian Whiskey.
GREAT VIDEO 👍…… LOVE THE TANK FOR SURE…. LOL
Very cool. Inspiring. All the best to young woodworkers like him. I’m going to check out his YouTube channel.
