I am retired and own a little shop where I conduct woodturning, produce musical instruments, and some cabinetry. I found this woodworking guide, “pepe amazing plan” (Google it), and obtained it despite the fact that I own numerous woodworking books in the house. It`s the most detailed book I`ve seen. It has decent coverage on each and every topic.

Thank you for such a simple show and tell with woodwork. I’ve always love the idea of making useful things but have little experience with woodwork. I want to try some of these and share the experience with my teens….they can make some simple tools for their own someday homes and I get some skills and memories! I’ll have to go find a spoke shave and a four-in-hand!

Hi Paul, great video thanks for sharing it with us. However I do have one question what were the dimensions of the pine board used to make the chopping board. Many thanks.

You remind me of my wood-aircraft-modelling teacher from childhood I was so luck to work with! Behind these simple tools and working by hand, it’s the energy of the maker that matters! Yes, machines, CNCs and stuff do the work faster and more precise, but they lack the love and the heart. As always, your videos are a pleasure to watch! I wish you good health and all the best! 🙂

I know this is an old video but it’s timeless. Three simple projects that I can coach my Grandsons on making and they can give to their Moms for Mothers Day or any time for that matter. Thanks Peter.

Clever idea to set a progressive depth of cut across the width of the spokeshave. Thanks, I’ll use that!

  20. Richard Singer on September 26, 2022 at 2:26 am

Wow, that is one very sharp spokeshave. I think I know where I’ve been going wrong!

  21. Tony Snyder on September 26, 2022 at 2:28 am

He’s worried about the edges on the propeller causing injury, but then proceeds to teach how to fashion a wooden shiv…🤷‍♂️😂😂

Yes, I’ve also read the comments, amd I also recommend getting Woody Hyezmar’s Woodworking Bible. Last time I checked he was still giving it away on his site!

  28. Philippe Gratton on September 26, 2022 at 2:36 am

Ok that was pretty cool, I will try that out really soon!! but quick question for both the spatula and cutting board, did you use any finish/laquer? I am new to woodworking and i wouldnt know if the wood could be used in the kitchen without the stain.

How do you get fine shavings on endgrain?! I mean, it’s end grain. You shouldn’t be able to do that.

Of all the woodworking book I`ve read, this “pepe amazing plan” (Google it) is the perfect. My woodworking trainer even suggests his learners to read the book. I`m impressed how authors managed to write very detailed topics. I am surprised by the material and didn`t have a tough time following the tutorials.

  37. JMP on September 26, 2022 at 2:49 am

Is that a flat bottom spoke shave?

Much obliged to the creator of this plan for sharing such awesome work of yours in an extremely moderate expense [Link Here== *TopFineWoodworking. Com* ]. The nature of the work and the materials far surpasses the cost. This is the best offer as such.?

  43. William Marr on September 26, 2022 at 2:54 am

Paul – our 10 and 12 year old grand kids were visiting during Easter and we made the cutting board, spatula and propeller toy. They loved working with the wood and tools in my shop. I don’t know about the projects but the memories will last a life time for each of us. Thanks for the great ideas. Hopefully I can find a few more projects they can try in the future. Thanks again.

  44. Colin Martin on September 26, 2022 at 2:55 am

I was only half-eyeing the animated thumbnail and I swear to god what I saw was a dovetailing saw magically fly out of Paul’s hands.

I love this! Great video! Although, you could save yourself some time and give yourself some design freedom if you use a template tool. Just sayin. 🙂

Hi Paul Hope you are doing good, loved this clip – was wondering if you have a new woodworking gifts clip planned for Christmas 2021 .

  50. Barbara Swenson on September 26, 2022 at 3:05 am

Picking the detailed woodwork plans is an important step to steer away from failure, so ensure to grab the ones which are written by real woodworkers.
