Interesting ideas, but it’s not very good to put the bottles of wine upside down.

Stand, pear, cute, but you can make a wall lamp (sconce) out of it.

That growth chart is amazing! Really good job! I am definitely going to make one! I might cover the wood in tape before routing and spraying therefore hopefully reducing the need to sand or letting the paint bleeds from the grooves.

    Really good stuff, thank you!

  13. Kim Greer on August 20, 2022 at 12:27 am

I have a solution for the paint issue that you had on the ruler. I do a lot of CNC work on bourbon barrel lids and had the same problem. I found the Marsh’s Spray stencil Ink works so much better. It dries much faster and sands off quite easily.

  14. OR Scrub on August 20, 2022 at 12:28 am

Great ideas! Would love to have your workshop! Or just be your neighbor. 😬

I worked for Princess Auto for a short while.. and never met a bunch of bigots like those people. I hated my experience there and will never go back. I hate to hear of anyone supporting that business

Great ideas for projects! Can you re-use those stencils or once you use them they’re useless?

  19. Juan Zimbron on August 20, 2022 at 12:33 am

  22. Muddy Fences on August 20, 2022 at 12:40 am

Try using flat black paint next time. I find it easier to sand off the excess.

  23. UseYour Mind on August 20, 2022 at 12:40 am

You said "I got into the groove" when using that router bit. Ha! Nice pun. Great ideas here. Your instruction is spot on (not too wordy like many others). Thank you

  24. Alexandre Perron on August 20, 2022 at 12:41 am

Quick question: where did you find a 2"1/4 wood dowel?

  25. William Lansberry on August 20, 2022 at 12:41 am

I recommend wood and CA glue on anything like a trivet, because when it gets hot, the CA glue will fail. Maybe not the first time, but it will fail, eventually.

  26. Eddy Yu on August 20, 2022 at 12:44 am

    Wow ! You’re invincible.

  27. fredoswego on August 20, 2022 at 12:44 am

I think I’d make a simple jig for lining up the wine rack holders. Otherwise, given my luck, I’d be off a bit and given the design I think it would be painfully obvious.

  28. Lee Johnson on August 20, 2022 at 12:44 am

I really love your videos! Always great projects you do!

  29. Richard Wassink on August 20, 2022 at 12:45 am

    great video

  30. Acer Juglans on August 20, 2022 at 12:45 am

I make growth charts with my CNC. I coat the pine with sanding sealer first, let it dry, then do the carvings. I brush on water based paint, and I think it’s thicker than oil based spray paint. After that’s dry, I sand it all down. There’s still minute amounts of bleed through around the lines and numbers, but it’s barely noticeable. Once that’s done, I spray 2 coats of lacquer.

I like your router jig for the lines. If you can incorporate an indexing pin to sit in each previously carved line, you won’t have to mark out any lines, and they’ll all be perfectly spaced apart by 1".

great video…you explain the process so good..thanks

Your video inspired me! I have made 12 Large and 12 Small (PDF printed at 80%) and will be giving them as gifts in "Pears in Pairs" 😉 Have a wonderful holiday season!

  34. GrumpyBoyHiker on August 20, 2022 at 12:51 am

Stumbled upon your channel recently. Great ‘how to’ videos! Working my way through your archive.

  35. marykirmo on August 20, 2022 at 12:51 am

All of these are amazing!! And thank you so much for not doing everything perfectly. I’m a new woodworker and actually nothing is perfect! But I push on anyway.

  36. arjun chandar on August 20, 2022 at 12:51 am

Hi Marie, I don’t know if I will make any of this myself well possibly the trivet. Wanted to say your videos are inspirational and for a less experienced woodworker like me, your step by step videos make it seem easy and doable. I also loved the fact that most projects you do are first time experiences for you.. wishing you Happy Holidays from Papillon, Nebraska

  37. Tim on August 20, 2022 at 12:52 am

To fix the paint issues you had with the ruler: First spray it with clear coat to prevent bleed out. If you have any wide voids, sand the clearcoat w/ 220 but for this project, it’s probably not necessary. Then paint by hand with a fine paintbrush and any black craft paint. Then when you sand the top, get one of those wax sandpaper cleaning sticks.. these are like $5 and will clean all that paint gunk off the sandpaper. These steps are more labor-intensive but would give a better result.

    Cutting dimensions for molkky game?

  43. John Rickel on August 20, 2022 at 12:59 am

Love the growth chart. I want to make some for my kids soon and your jigs were the missing piece I couldn’t figure out how to do. For the paint leaching maybe try sealing it first with something like a dewaxed shellac. You can still stain over top of it but it might help with the bleeding.
