FYI the website given in the video for the turntable no longer works, but I found this similar one from veritas: http://www.leevalley.com/en/wood/page.aspx?cat=1,43456,43390&p=67720
I have noticed most these tutorial videos skip on the part between the coats. They are focused just on the moment the finish is applied.
Question.
How do you stain something you turned on a lathe? I made a table lamp on my lathe. I have Minwax brush-on pre-stain conditioner, stain, & polyurethane. How would you apply them in coves?
Awesome thanks
What’s the difference of a pre-stain conditioner & a sanding sealer/base coat?
I’d rather use wipe on poly..aerosols are so awful..you’re breathing that glue into your lungs …wear a mask
@wwgoaeditor Will do, Thanks
Thanks for the tip.
Gracias por el consejo.
@Geissler745 You can purchase the Painters Turntable at almost any woodworking supply store. Rockler, Woodcraft, PeachTree or you can buy online directly with Painters Pyramid. painterspyramid. com/finishing-turntable-wheretobuy. Happy Woodworking!
Can you put a shellac over a stain? And which finishes will work over a shellac? I understand polyurethane won’t?
were can u buy that turn table?
What do you mean when you say undercoat? That sounds like there is going to be other things going on top of the shellac. I would think shellac would be the final coating on the project.
