    It took me a while to figure out why my cuts using the miter gauge were always slightly out of square on my bandsaw. The miter slot has to be parallel with the blade. This is hard to setup since the blade doesn’t have enough reference surface area to indicate off of. I solved the problem by setting the miter 90 degrees to the front edge of the table and use it to make a long cut down a perfectly square piece of stock. I the set the miter gauge angle so that the cut edge is 90 degrees to the front edge of the table.
