No long hair or gloves. Keep fingers behind tool rest at all times. Keep sharp tooling. Check tightness of stock on lathe from time to time. No distractions!

I tried to check out the air powered face shields. Most of them, like Trend, have terrible reviews. Unless you can recommend a brand that you like? Please follow up.

is the face shield made of LEXAN ?
A ring or a watch really isn’t a problem,
But how about long hair or the ties from a hooded sweatshirt or similar…??
This is much more of a real risk, and I’m surprised he didn’t mention them..
A girl working on a lathe in some lab at Yale (or Harvard?) in the last few years was actually killed when her hair was caught..
Certainly a dangling or loose sleeve is also not safe, as he did mention.
I’ve used a wood lathes and metal lathes since I was about 12, mainly for woodwind instrument making and repairs but quite a few other things
