Got home from Woodcraft a little while ago. I like the store. Picked up the Grip lamp, the magnetic strips, and the tractor seat chair. The light is OK, I’m not blown away, but it’s a useful size. The Rikon lights they sell for $40 on sale are much better. Sure, they cost twice as much, but they’re worth it if only for the versatility. Significantly brighter, too. Haven’t tried the magnetic strips yet, but did put the chair together. It’s fantastic! Very comfortable and decently made. Better build than the Craftsman shop seat that it replaced.
I wonder why all the knives and pens are on clearance.😂 That would be like buying tools at McDonald’s.
Good looking out Brad, I’m heading to woodcraft today 🙂
I think the kitchen knives might be because they also sell sharpening stones, and a lot of people might want to make a cutting board and give someone a knife with it. The knife prices definitely look like they’re in the "gift" range.
I’m ugly everywhere Brad, how can I not be ugly in the comments?!
I have the tractor seat shop stool at 2:38. I love it. Very comfortable and light weight so it’s easy to move around since it doesn’t have casters. I paid $99 about 6 weeks ago for it. The seat and back are molded plastic that have a tiny bit of flex in them but are still very sturdy. I am 6’3" and 200lbs and have zero issues with the quality of it. The plastic just makes it more comfortable than traditional metal tractor seats. The paint on the plastic shows a bit of a sparkle up close but not in a feminine way. The hydraulic operation is very smooth. The build is very sturdy. I have had zero issues with the quality control of the product and it is well made. For the price of $64.99…you just cannot go wrong with this thing.
Once you get the hang of the pull saw you will find uses for it all the time.. and carry one with you everywhere
Those are some great deals Brad! I liked this one👍
Careful with the name there, "Grip-On" is also a company that makes all sorts of locking pliers, made (mostly? all?) in Spain, and of pretty nice quality from what I have seen. Orange handles usually, but a little up there in price. Probably better than buying a chinese Irwin if you need a new one in some sort of specialty shape for welding or doing sheet metal work.
Some great deals Brad!!! I’ll have to check them out. As far as the insertion tool for pen tubes, I use an old nail punch that’s fully metal and of course is tapered. Works perfect for a cheap ass like myself. 😂
Awesome stuff brother!!
I visited my first Woodcraft in Austin on Saturday. Wow, everything you would ever need for woodworking.
Your right Brad the F clamps are friction locking. We have a Woodcraft store here in Tulsa they have a lot of nice stuff! The machines are higher end but great quality. The staff is very knowledgeable unlike some places that you get the deer 🦌 in the headlights look!
Interesting fact….Brazilian Ebony is not a true species of Ebony….if anyone really cares 🙂 Thanks for the video Brad!….btw, I live pretty close to the place that supplies a portion of the Woodcraft stores with their lumber….its amazing.
Nice, I’ll have to get some clamps and that mat.
Great Idea!
Whoever reading this, you’ll be successful someday. Just keep on pushing! ❤
No personal experience with that particular clamp but if they’re trying to sell you a little more clamp for the money it makes sense to cut down the complexity.
However, I don’t particularly like that style as they’re harder to use one-handed. The longer ones are more annoying to store and retrieve hanging from the upper jaw – the lower jaw opens unless it’s clamped down and can catch on things, like other clamps in a rack.
I usually only use them when I’ve run out of of the others. YMMV of course, mine are "vintage" so they might be a little more slippy on the beam than the woodcraft ones.
I have some clamps like the wood river but from besse. They work fine with the locking mechanism like my hf clamps.
I ordered all those cigar pen kits. Will be turning one today? Got a pen Insertion Tool coming from PSI. $10 seems about right range!

Thanks again man. I really love the way you do these videos. I’ve never seen any videos featuring woodcraft, when will we see the rockler video?
Woodcraft has their combo and double squares made by PEC. Ebay has PEC cosmetic seconds for around $10 cheaper than iGaging.
That Shapton 16000 stone is great, but $100 is still pricey for a honing stone… Shapton sells a ceramic series on Amazon which includes a 12000 grit for around $63
That Japanese saw is a great buy. You get a rip and crosscuts in the same tool. I believe it is priced around or maybe even less than the price of its replacement blade.
