It’s called the "right hand rule". It is used in physics, electronics, and… Woodworking.

  2. Tony Portaro on January 26, 2022 at 9:46 pm

https://youtu.be/mP0DgxIb-xs?t=413 Paul Sellers mentioned the same saw teeth filing trick in this video a year before, but he used it for the front of a western dovetail saw. I think it’s something that has been done for ages, but most woodworkers came up with this solution on their own just like you did, that’s why it sounds so "new"… Good idea tho, I didn’t think about it

Plunge router set up block! OMG that is awesome! I can’t believe I missed that before!

  5. nate2838 on January 26, 2022 at 9:49 pm

Wow, didn’t think i would like cutting the teeth off the saw, now, cant say i can argue with it.

  6. Hi-Gain Guitar Channel on January 26, 2022 at 9:50 pm

Great tips, though I cannot imagine damaging my saw blade just to keep from pushing to start the cut 🤣

  7. Serpent64 on January 26, 2022 at 9:51 pm

I just found your site today and am so impressed that I subscribed and set up for all notifications, thanks! By the way, I love your sound effects!

  8. Nick on January 26, 2022 at 9:54 pm

Excellent tips! Several big names in hand tool woodworking teach sharpening the last inch or two of teeth in a similar way so it’s a legit tip. On a western push stroke saw you graduate the teeth furthest from the handle though. It’s really cool that you developed this technique through experience. You’re like the Leibniz of woodworking : )

I am a welder by trade with over 20yrs experience and those tricks of the trade as they are referred to are worth their weight in gold no matter what trade that you are in.

  22. kolloproductions on January 26, 2022 at 10:07 pm

Hey man I just subscribed to your channel. Love your content. Really enjoy your vids!! I’ll pass on the tape measure straw idea though 😅

  23. Kody Sherrer on January 26, 2022 at 10:07 pm

You can also take some of the set out of the saw teeth and itll make it less grabby, also when you start the cut let the weight of the saw do the work don’t apply pressure until you have a good score

  24. Daniel Arnold on January 26, 2022 at 10:10 pm

Best collection of tips I’ve seen. More, please.

  25. blaine carpenter on January 26, 2022 at 10:14 pm

You are an excellent teacher, sir

  26. Joseph Brauer on January 26, 2022 at 10:16 pm

Good lessons, I didn’t know about the plunge cut on the jig saw, or the grinding down the razor saws at the base for easier starts. The A B method of jointing, I forgot. the miter saw technique to prevent pinching of the blade was very cool.

  27. Barry Roberts on January 26, 2022 at 10:17 pm

Safety glasses,? especially when grinding metal. Hearing protection? Rings are not a great idea in a shop setting. Otherwise video was fun AND informative.

  28. Steve Colwill on January 26, 2022 at 10:18 pm

    OUTSTANDING VIDEO!!!! well done, sir!

  29. Horatio Beaker on January 26, 2022 at 10:19 pm

Great tips. Because if it were not for the router tips, especially, you will find yourself repeating a woodworker’s mantra: Holy Crap, I won’t do that again.

  30. Mark Hyland on January 26, 2022 at 10:22 pm

Because in the old school you would take your razor knife and you would put a little Mark in the wood to start your wood to start your cut

  31. watchman1969 on January 26, 2022 at 10:23 pm

about the router plunge depht, you can use drill bits too

  32. Sylvie Carpentier on January 26, 2022 at 10:25 pm

This video is probably one the most informative video I’ve ever watched in woodworking. I’m significantly impressed therefore registered. Thank you for your great job.
