It’s called the "right hand rule". It is used in physics, electronics, and… Woodworking.
https://youtu.be/mP0DgxIb-xs?t=413 Paul Sellers mentioned the same saw teeth filing trick in this video a year before, but he used it for the front of a western dovetail saw. I think it’s something that has been done for ages, but most woodworkers came up with this solution on their own just like you did, that’s why it sounds so "new"… Good idea tho, I didn’t think about it
Plunge router set up block! OMG that is awesome! I can’t believe I missed that before!
Thanks. Yes, more tip videos.
Wow, didn’t think i would like cutting the teeth off the saw, now, cant say i can argue with it.
Great tips, though I cannot imagine damaging my saw blade just to keep from pushing to start the cut 🤣
I just found your site today and am so impressed that I subscribed and set up for all notifications, thanks! By the way, I love your sound effects!
Excellent tips! Several big names in hand tool woodworking teach sharpening the last inch or two of teeth in a similar way so it’s a legit tip. On a western push stroke saw you graduate the teeth furthest from the handle though. It’s really cool that you developed this technique through experience. You’re like the Leibniz of woodworking : )
Thank you
Great tip on the Pull Saw!..I have a nice one and you’re right, its tough to get the saw to start properly.
Helpful
Your videos are awesome! It’s like the adult version of "Blues Clues"
Genius! Im gonna go drink my coffee with a tape measure😊
Great tips in here
Nice, I learned a few thing
Awesome information thank u
That saw has a few teeth already missing at the top… duh.
Alright man, finally subscribed. But only for the clean beard technique.
Thank you it was a great help
I like it when you put some humors into lessons
Learned a lot and appreciate all the sound effects lol
I am a welder by trade with over 20yrs experience and those tricks of the trade as they are referred to are worth their weight in gold no matter what trade that you are in.
Hey man I just subscribed to your channel. Love your content. Really enjoy your vids!! I’ll pass on the tape measure straw idea though 😅
You can also take some of the set out of the saw teeth and itll make it less grabby, also when you start the cut let the weight of the saw do the work don’t apply pressure until you have a good score
Best collection of tips I’ve seen. More, please.
You are an excellent teacher, sir
Good lessons, I didn’t know about the plunge cut on the jig saw, or the grinding down the razor saws at the base for easier starts. The A B method of jointing, I forgot. the miter saw technique to prevent pinching of the blade was very cool.
Safety glasses,? especially when grinding metal. Hearing protection? Rings are not a great idea in a shop setting. Otherwise video was fun AND informative.
OUTSTANDING VIDEO!!!! well done, sir!
Great tips. Because if it were not for the router tips, especially, you will find yourself repeating a woodworker’s mantra: Holy Crap, I won’t do that again.
Because in the old school you would take your razor knife and you would put a little Mark in the wood to start your wood to start your cut
about the router plunge depht, you can use drill bits too
This video is probably one the most informative video I’ve ever watched in woodworking. I’m significantly impressed therefore registered. Thank you for your great job.

You crazy fucker, i love you
Great tips. Love the humor.
Try pushing your Dozuki saw to start the cut.
Thank you, very helpful tips there, and I enjoy your antics!
Had me at plunge cutting 🤯
Love the video and picked up a few tips that I plan on using.
Awesome tips. Thank you for sharing! 🙂
Thank you. Enjoyable, but most of all helpful for this old-timer newbie. Especially the router info. Just starting the router adventure and concerned about appropriate safety and use.
Simply outstanding video! Thank you!
the front of the pullsaw already has exactly that so you can just do a pushstroke first to get it started
Actually if the growth rings are down (frown) your board will cup up trying to straighten out. But your right, always alternate your boards. Love your channel.Very informative!
Nice beard!
I just looked at a majority of the tools in your video description. Congratulations on all your success man. Keep up the good work!
Wonderful tips, I will use them except the drinking tip, put your drink in a babies bottle if you must!
About your last hint … There’s a device you should get. Its not too expensive. Its called a straw. 🙂
Beautiful explanation! You roll really well and by the way, your printing ie also excellent! You’re a little Crazy but hey, that’s the way you roll..
Use drill bits for set up blocks.
