  4. Lucian Daniel on March 12, 2023 at 6:53 am

This trick works for rough joints where high precision doesnt matter that much as most of the times you can easily spot" imperfections",if you want to make some nice furniture,I wouldn’t recomand it!

  5. Jim Lee on March 12, 2023 at 6:54 am

Great tip! You ought to patent that nail thing.

  6. Aaron Higgins on March 12, 2023 at 6:56 am

that’s dumb. how do you know the two boards where alligned before hammering them. You’d still have to clamp or jig to get proper alignment

  7. Arvind Pradhan on March 12, 2023 at 6:56 am

I liked your controlled aggression. Your message to me is clear. Get off your ass and do it bozo.

  8. Jthomas Annillo on March 12, 2023 at 6:57 am

The whole point of a jig is perfect placement. This method is still just "best guess" which is what we do without a jig.

  9. Laurie Henson on March 12, 2023 at 6:57 am

😂 I had to pause from laughing soo hard on the lazy remark. I am like that too!

How about nails as dowels its more strong and effective…trust me I tried it.

  24. Taylor on March 12, 2023 at 7:12 am

What about a dot of paint with a brush? The paint will mirror when aligning the 2 pieces.

  25. krrrruptidsoless on March 12, 2023 at 7:14 am

Super glue 2 nails to make a point to drill a hole to put a dowel.
    Whodda thunk it 🤷
You did dude you, you thunk it.
    Sorry past tense "thunked it"

  29. Newfrank2017 Frank on March 12, 2023 at 7:25 am

How you make sure the holes are straight to fit the board?

  30. M.J.S. on March 12, 2023 at 7:26 am

I am going to try this but with tiny dabs of, say, toothpaste on one board to mark the 2nd board pressed against it.

  31. oopalonga on March 12, 2023 at 7:26 am

Love ur personality bro and this is the first vid I’ve seen. Excited for more keep this shit coming! And the part about that 2×4 being $53,000 has me rolling

  32. Boat4Life on March 12, 2023 at 7:27 am

Ha…Ha. Terrible. Drilling into wood is the issue. Bits follow the grain and drift off. The Dowel Jib helps to minimize this.

  33. SuperLittleTyke on March 12, 2023 at 7:28 am

I drill holes in one edge, insert dowel points, push the two boards together, drill holes in the other board where the dowel points have marked the spot.

  34. William Pettersen on March 12, 2023 at 7:28 am

    Too cutesy.

Far too much waffling on and on! Get to the point Man!

  38. Leahography on March 12, 2023 at 7:34 am

Amazing. I’ve been trying to figure out how to do this :).

  39. Pyramid Circle on March 12, 2023 at 7:35 am

lmao 53k for that 2×4. Its $63k now with inflation. I switched over to Legos! They’re only $8K.

  40. Milan Dzunda on March 12, 2023 at 7:35 am

Yes this will work but it’s very redneck style giving not precise joints. Only good for a quick construction type of joinery but then again there you just run pieces with long screws and be done with it. Do spend $30-50 on dowelling jig. It’s worthy!

  41. Lincoln Dickerson on March 12, 2023 at 7:36 am

I have been wondering about dowels verses Domino… This pretty much makes using dowels a no brainer. The great thing is you need like 5 glued pairs of nails for a long glue up. The need to be near center and near parallel to the board and that’s good enough. Cheap, fast, and good! I wasn’t limited to 2. lololol

  42. Gollammeister on March 12, 2023 at 7:37 am

Using dowel pins to attach planks to a frame can be problematic if they don’t line up

  43. Luis Ramirez on March 12, 2023 at 7:38 am

    Love it! Simple!

  44. Raj Dann on March 12, 2023 at 7:38 am

    Cheers

    Cool little tips sure help!!!!

  48. daddybear on March 12, 2023 at 7:46 am

The dowel gig does more than giving the position to drill. It also helps drill straight down. Else the dowel won’t fit

  49. Christina the Astonishing on March 12, 2023 at 7:46 am

YEAH!! TOOL TIP TUESDAY!!! Thanks for keepin’ it quick for us busy humans!! AND entertaining!! 😄
